I had an absolutely terrible experience at your North Hollywood location that has completely turned me off from ever returning.
When we arrived around 7 pm this Friday, the only staff member present was a woman who claimed to be the owner’s cousin. She seemed unprofessional and unwell—at one point, she told my friends they couldn’t use the bathroom until I placed an order, which made us feel like we were just trying to sneak in.
During ordering, she asked if my cousin and I were my friend’s parents (who is in his 30s), which I found rude and inappropriate. I ordered a vegan hot dog, but it arrived with bacon on top. I asked the cooks about it, but they looked confused. When I brought this up again and showed the lady a previous hot dog I had purchased, she said the cooks were not well-trained and promised to correct the order.
However, the replacement hot dog was significantly smaller than the original. When I questioned this and showed a picture of the previous hot dog, she kept making excuses, then said she would call the owner—who she claimed was her cousin—and switched from English to Spanish during the call, even though we speak Spanish as well.
Throughout all of this, she was dismissive—making faces and ignoring my comments and my attempt to show her a positive Yelp review I had written earlier. She appeared to be under the influence, which was disturbing and humiliating to watch. Several customers even left because of her unprofessional attitude and refusal to accommodate basic requests.
This experience was incredibly disappointing. We thought we had found a new spot to hang out on Friday nights, but this visit ruined our evening. The customer service was nonexistent, and the entire situation was humiliating. I would not recommend this place to anyone and will definitely never return.
I went last Tuesday and had a completely different experience! The service on Tuesday was friendly, professional, and enjoyable, so I can say that my negative experience was likely an...
Read moreThis place has become complete trash. I remember when it opened and how good the food was and how great the service was. Then slowly over time the owners got greedy and started charging for every little thing, including a miniscule serving of ranch dressing on the side! That was the first step down a slippery slope to what will inevitably be the closure of this ridiculous dump. For at least the past 5 years, no one answers the phone. Not ever. Not during business hours -- not EVER. Then when you attempt to physically go into Dog Haus, they are always closed, or closing. Never according to the hours posted online, never according to anything that makes sense as far as a food business that should be open at least until 8:00 p.m. The employees are always cleaning and closing no matter what time you go there: 4:00 p.m., 5:15pm, 6:30 p.m., 7:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m. You could go to Vegas and bet a large sum of money that anytime you try to walk into Dog Haus, it is "closed" and the lights are always dark. Chairs are up on the table and the employees are very happy to tell you that they are closed. I wonder if the owners know that the employees maintain zero hours of operation at this location. Whatever this restaurant was, it is no more. We will no longer even attempt to eat here. There are so many places in North Hollywood that are open for business and have employees who actually treat people as if they are happy that there are customers. How is this place even still open? I hope the owners know that the employees are doing whatever they want and turning away people at all hours of the day. Asinine laziness and incompetence run rampant here. Dog Haus is supposed to be open until 9:00pm, but it seems as if the employees want the restaurant to be permanently closed. Their wish just...
Read moreI haven't gone to this chain in a while. So today I decided to check it out once more. The North Hollywood location is pretty nice. Its spacious. It has nice ambiance and is very clean. The menu is very easy to navigate and things are clearly described. They have a good variety of hotdogs and sausages to choose from. They also have a nice rotating beer selection too which is also pretty unique for a restaurant like this. The people were very nice to work with and my order was brought to me in a very timely manner. The experience was good. The only downside that I saw was that I remember from my first visit there, the sausage was a little bit larger. I guess this is understandable due to the general rise in food costs. They could I suppose solve this problem by making the items less bread heavy. They use Hawaiian rolls which unless having a filling that is of an equal or greater ratio, the sweetness can be overpowering. I found the nice flavors of the sausage and other toppings be drowned out by the rolls. I used a knife and fork and ate the roll and the sausage separately. It was delicious that way. I wish they had other sides other than the fries, tots and onion rings. If they had fresher items like a side salad or something to contrast the pretty rich item you're eating, they would really be onto something. Other than those little things, I cannot complain about this place. Everything's hot and fresh to order. Prices are decent. Its a great lunch stop within walking distance of the...
