I have given this place several tries since it was called Home and I have been increasingly disappointed. The first time was when my mother ordered the soy chorizo. It was undercooked and soggy. It took me awhile to go back, By this time they switched to Valet parking only which adds $5 to the visit. This time I was there for dinner. I was just not impressed with anything. I think I just ended up ordering the wings.
I didn't return even after the name was changed. The other night I decided to give it a try hoping the name change could also mean other changes. It was cold so we asked for a booth indoors. We were sat in a dinning room and were told the heater would be turned on. We ordered our drinks and two cups of soup to start. After a few minutes it was still cold. We asked if there was another space that was warm. This visibly bugged the waiter. We were moved into the bar area.
The clam chowder soup was ok even though the clams were a bit chewy. I ordered the seafood pasta (salmon, shrimp and calamari). When I got my food I saw a lot of tentacles and asked the waiter if this was octopus. He said: "Yes, it's squid, you know Calamari" and then just rushed off. I don't like octopus. I moved the tentacles aside and gave it a try. The calamari was so chewy I couldn't finish the first bit. This was definitely overcooked. I let the waiter know. The waiter was obviously bothered. I asked for the breakfast tacos and agreed for the extra charge for mashed potatoes instead of fries.
The waiter took the plate of pasta and walked over to who I think was the manager. I could hear the entire conversation. The waiter explained what happened in a mocking tone. The manger asked what I ordered instead and the waiter laughed and said :"the breakfast tacos!"
The tacos were ok. The mashed potatoes were cold. $18 btw.
There are many places in the area where I pay similar prices but the food is worth it. Check out Dish (La Canada), Morrison (Los Feliz), Sorriso/Agnes (Pasadena) or even The Diner on Main (Alhambra).

Read moreLiterally such a negative experience with this restaurant First off we made a reservation there on Halloween at 6:45. Id also like to make note that everyone in our party has worked at a restaurant for many years so we completely understand any kind of restrictions or early closing. I get a text message the day before , right after I confirmed my reservation that they would be closing early. I let my roommate know to call the restaurant and double check so that we can make other plans if they are closing early. She calls the restaurant and they say no it’s fine we will be open and your reservation is in here. Come to Halloween night we call the restaurant TWENTY MINUTES early to say we will be slightly late yet they are not answering. Mind you we had no missed calls from them. It was 6:25 when we called . We arrived at 6:55 (10 mins late. The usual reservation window is 15 minutes .Especially if you call)Mind you it takes a while to close a restaurant completely and the lights were completely OFF and the gate was CLOSED. Anyway we call today just to alert them of what happened and the manager MARK completely demeaned and talked down to us. Trying to gas light and make it look like we didn’t know what time we got there. He said he closed the gate at 7:30. We got there before 7. Not to mention he told us “ yeah I heard the phone ringing” when we called which would have saved us the ride over there in the first place. Not to mention if you close early you call the reservations THAT DAY to confirm and let them know. You don’t be rude and make it look like the customers fault, especially...
Read moreWell it wasn't exactly the Ivanhoe restaurant from one year ago they now charge mandatory valet parking and I had a conversation when I went in the restaurant asking why we have to pay $5 for valet parking, they attempted to tell me they always had that I've been to the restaurant four times they never had it before ever. So, I said I can see if the parking lot was full but the parking lot was primarily empty you could count the cars in the lot on one hand and I explained that to him, that guy came out he says I'm sorry we've been doing this for three years I said that's not true we've had three birthday celebrations and a dinner here and that was never the case even in the midst of COVID-19 we visited your restaurant and he said I'm sorry I've been here 2 years and we've had mandatory valet parking. I didn't want to continue going back and forth with him so I said so you are willing to lose 80-$100 tab for $5 in the parking lot he says I can't do anything about it. I said okay and so we left. $5 was not really the issue the issue is post covid everybody's trying to screw everyone else out of a extra $5 $10 $20 everything else has gotten so expensive already why openly screw us I'm not going to allow myself to be taken advantage of for actually no reason the parking lot again was basically empty. Their loss, we went over to Home restaurant in Silver Lake, better quality food and although they have valet parking unless you can find street parking you kind of know that going in, it's not a mandatory surprise as...
