Hot Tongue Pizza — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Unfortunately this place used to have a straightforward menu where everything is vegan. If you are lactose intolerant or vegan 🌱 you want to avoid this place. I used to love it here but today I noticed the pizza has a different flavor and wasn’t as good as since they added dairy to their menu. Also I am vegan and was eating with a friend who is lactose intolerant I asked and made sure that what we got was vegan but unfortunately it was not. Also the person in front of me had to have their order remade luckily he was a regular and they recognized him when he walked in to pick up his delivery order and asked him and he confirmed he wanted the vegan pizza which I watched them remake. They were about to deliver the wrong one to his house and he may have accidentally eaten it and gotten a bit sick. After asking to make sure everything I got was vegan as before all their sides etc were they said I did not have the same issue as they guy ahead of me and my stuff was vegan. When I got home sadly after eating the kale salad I got sick.. it not vegan anymore. Their default kale Cesar is diary based so beware. I will unlikely come back even-though I don’t get pizza unless it from there and recently was offered pizza from a nearby place which is basically now the same as the offer vegan options and I responded “ why would I cheat on hot tongue” given the new menu it’s now not safe for me to eat there and then there are ethical concerns of it no longer being cruelty free. Although again tonight my friend that ate with me was assuming she was safe from dairy because she was eating pizza with her vegan friend…sadly not the case. Honestly, first time I walked into this place I was skeptical; but I am now a believer. You know when you walk into a place and you try the food and you can tell there's some kind of passion, attention, and love going into the food. That's this spot! Let's not forget the mention the great vibe at this spot. Everyone seems so friendly and upbeat the decor in this spot is fun to look at if anything else. The pizza though! The PIZZA! So I had three slices the person at the register got my order wrong but I believe it wasn't a mistake it was a happy accident. I got a regular cheese slice, a white slice, and I was supposed to get a pesto but she accidentally gave me a Detroit slice those square thicker ones. In her defense I think the girl at the register made the mistake because I asked about the square slices before making my selections, but let me tell y'all something every single slice was incredible. My kid is a picky eater (probably like every other kid) but damn he loved all the slices except the white one but he didn't try it because it looked like too much for him. It had like everything bagel seasoning on the crust which completely blew me away. This is a must try spot.. I am a firm believer that Hot Tongue Pizza has a pizza for everyone. Vegans, vegetarians, carnivores (trust me you'll love it) and even for the gluten free peeps. Definitely coming back...

Second time trying, first time was at the pizza fest, this time was at their amazing pizzeria, they have slices & whole pies, & many other treats, we we're their for pizza. 1/2 plain cheese, 1/2 sausage & jalapeño, some classic ny & little cali style.which to you newbies reading this review is the only way to determine pizza 🍕 at this level. Fresh pie, made by a master at his craft, Frank. The sauce cheese ratio was perfect, i gave the sausage Jalapeño to the gf, i went straight for the holy grail, the reg slice as it is known back east. The level of the dough is from a galaxy 🌌 far far away.These pizza Jedi's are slinging 5 star ⭐️ quality pizzas 🍕, like no other. The taste brought me back to a corner pizzeria in Queens Nyc. Where as a kid i traveled far & away for quality pizza🍕. Bicycle, foot patrol, skateboard 🛹, bus, train, hitchhiking 👍 . This a 3 hr journey for pizza. We would have joined Noah & the beasts for this adventure l. Ty again to the staff who are amazing, friendly &knowledgeable & love their jobs. This excellent team of pizza makers is a must stop. 🛑 new pizza done the old way. Plus there are vegan options don't sleep on hot tongue 👅.& of course i burnt my tongue. Which is always a bonus for me....
