I was duped. I saw these delicious videos on Instagram and I just had to try Jays Red Tacos. I ordered the tacos and nachos believing I was getting what was shown on the videos. I drove to the restaurant in East Los Angeles. Once I arrived it was like 3 restaurants from Instagram 🤳 in one. The place is not too big or too small. It is clean, but the nachos are not covered or tossed in the red sauce like the video. They barely give you the guacamole 😔. My chips tasted a little old. Something was not right with the cheese sauce. I got a lot of meat, but it didn't have that flavor 😕 I was looking for. The flavor of well seasoned meat. The red sauce was the same juice from the meat, but it lacked flavor as well. It needed 🧂 salt etc...I tasted the paprika. Honestly, I was a little disappointed. I expected to get what I saw. I just knew that the flavor of their Red Tacos Birria sauce would outdo El Pollo Loco. Unfortunately, I went looking for El Pollo Loco's Birria sauce to put on top of my 🌮 tacos. I couldn't finish the nachos the cheese was flavorless and had a runny texture with a water like substance that was clearly separated from the cheese. The flavorless meat was causing me to gag a little. The pizza was okay, we doctored it up with the salsa, lime, cilantro and onions. The guacamole was good. Overall, it was a really expensive meal for nothing. I thought 🤔 I would go back to give it a second chance. 🤔 Maybe I didn't order right. 🧐Maybe there was a secret code I missed to have it cooked like Instagram. You know since it was 3 other restaurants named in the same location. Jay's Red Taco chef's probably wasn't the one cooking my food.🤷♀️ However, after remembering the price of the meal. 😬I spent well over $100 for this meal to share with my family to be embarrassed to have even been excited about sharing it🤦♀️. I will not be going back.😕 Like my husband, I don't like to waste my money or my calories. It has to be worth it....
Read moreI came from Virginia and my sis came from Florida where we are both from. So, glad we were finally able to. I loved the GOAT quesadillas and the barria tacos. We tried every taco also. We had the barria ramen and that was better before I added the fresh onion and cilantro. We had so much food to take with us. I can't wait to go back. The environment is the environment. Nothing fancy. I'm not from there so I definitely wouldn't go when it's dark. But we know where the best tasting food...
