La Villa Cafe — Restaurant in Los Angeles

We tried this location a year ago and we had a great experience with some great tasting food and service. This time we visited, they upgraded with the restaurant’s interior and exterior but the service was not great and food downgraded.

We ordered two breakfast plates with one modification and they failed to accommodate when they delivered the food. They did offer to make a new plate with the accommodation when I mentioned this but I rejected since I was in a rush. I also asked for creamer for two coffees and he only provided two small creamers to share for two coffees. We also had to ask for our tortillas, even though the plates said they were included in the meal. After sitting outside and battling with all the flies, the food felt oily and greasy. The beans are still great.

Afterwards, we ordered a large horchata to go and after he filled up the cup, he was looking for a cover but he only found lids too big for the cup he provided. This got me suspicious since they had a bunch of lids for a larger cup but the cup they provided was smaller. Eventually, he asked the cook in the back and the cook pointed out the large cups. The server had provided me a medium cup and was about to scam me for a different size.

Before I left, I asked for more creamer cups for our two coffees and I only received one small creamer cup. We didn’t drink the coffee since it was so bitter.

This is our go-to taco stand for lunch. Barely a week goes by without a visit, and I think we’re averaging 1.5 stops a week for the last couple months. The service is good, and they seem to be continually updating and adding to the dining area. There’s a good sized menu to choose from, although they did recently reduce it by removing some items that were not popular. The guacamole is really inconsistent, but always good; heavy on the onions, sometimes a little light on the lime. Never a miss for me if I want authentic Mexican street food, there are naby dishes I like here and I could definitely recommend to dine here. Great quality and taste of the food they cook. The crispy fish tacos are so right! They are crispy, flavored, seasoned and come with a great sauce! If the did the crispy shrimp tacos that would be awesome, cause the regular shrimp tacos are falling apart but I can let that slide cause of the rest of the food. All meats are great. Ranchero with eggs, Assad tacos, burrito are my regular food here! Recommend definitely. And the staff is real nice!...
