Beer selection is craft and (mostly?) local. It's both very good and interesting; feels like a beer lover runs the place and is putting a lot of thought into presenting fresh finds and hidden gems.
Crowd is quintessential LA for a local spot; mixed bag of folks and dress codes, all getting the same LA greeting (shrug and a head nod). Same goes for the vibe; not upscale, but not a dive.
For the last star: bartenders are friendly (enough) and (fairly) efficient, but haven't gotten a sense that they know the beers enough to trust a recommendation.

Read moreI got a chance to meet Steve from Glendale Tap at a local liquor store. He recommended an Almanac dogpatch cherry sour. It was one of the better sours I have tried. He also invited us to visit his bar sometime. A few days later I made my way over to Glendale Tap. That day they happen to be having an event with Deschutes brewery, one of my favorite breweries. I tried the Black Butte porter and the Chainbreaker white IPA at $5 a pint.
