Chevy Chase Park — Attraction in Los Angeles

Tried to take my kids to this park to play some ball and hang on the playground but had to cut the fun short due to the local knuckleheads. Couldn't help notice the group of men drinking beer and occasionally urinating behind the storage container in the trash littered parking lot of the park. We also live in Atwater Village and the actions of these careless "grown" individuals is not just alarming, but disappointing. They have no care or respect for their own community. Such a shame because this could be a great park for families. In the meantime the trash gets dumped in the streets, public intoxication happens daily, and crime increases. This is my local park, well besides North Atwater Park down the block. They put a skate park in here a couple years back. Draws alot of activity, they always seem well behaved and respectful towards the neighborhood. The hobo presence has gone way down, imo bc of the skatepark. The Park also has a basketball gym, a handball court, an outdoor basketball court and a very mysterious weight room I've never seen open. There are picnic benches often occupied by card playing regulars. There is a bathroom that is functional but not great. Sometimes there are special events here. The parking lot is very small unless they have another. The basketball gym is small. Not much room for family to sit and watch the kids and support. Very poor signage to alert guests. My wife was leaving the gym and fell off a step outside the entrance of the gym. Very dangerous especially if your not familiar with the park. Maybe put a sign on the wall leaving the gym warning to watch your step something. Or just make it a ramp entrance. Which I'm sure would be more accessable for the handicap? I don't know anything is better...
