I'm sure their coffee drinks are great, and I'd love to try them the next time I'm there, but I'll be talking here about their coffee beans.
I was so glad when I found out there's a coffee roaster only five minutes away from my house (I usually go to a roaster in Sherman Oaks). However, I was VERY surprised with the prices of their coffee beans. It's pretty normal for independent roasters to sell their beans for $17-25/lb. Lab Coffee sells their blends in that (reasonable) price range, but it's a completely different story with their single origins.
The single origin Colombian they had was $20 for a 150g bag. That's roughly 5.3 oz. Which translates to the price being $60/lb!
I have always bought single origin coffee beans from independent roasters and specialty coffee shops, and they have always been within the price range of $20-30/lb. Lab Coffee and Roasters is either underestimating the customers' knowledge, or have been mistakenly overcharging for their single origin beans; and I hope it's the latter.
I would love to support a local roaster and recommend them to other coffee enthusiasts I know; but unfortunately I can't, until they bring their prices down to a...
Read moreIn my humble opinion, this is hands down the best coffee shop in Los Angeles. The owner isn’t just passionate about coffee—he’s an international coffee competition judge, which speaks volumes about the level of expertise and dedication behind every cup. He sources beans directly from some of the finest growers around the world, so you can expect nothing less than top-tier quality every time you visit.
The entire staff here is warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. They consistently go above and beyond to ensure your coffee is made exactly the way you like it. I want to give a special shoutout to Mimi and Yun—two incredible people who truly are the heartbeat of this café. Their friendly energy and personal touch help create a vibe that’s both inviting and memorable.
If you’re someone who appreciates high-quality coffee and a thoughtfully curated experience, I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s a must-visit gem for any...
Read moreWhat can I say about Lab Coffee? Coming from Sacramento, we were underwhelmed by most coffee shops in the valley minus Coffee Source, which is now closed. Lab Coffee remains our most favorite spot in LA (not too far from the valley), without having to trek to Downtown for spots like Demitasse. The beans, the brewing, and customer service are all exceptional. Cappuccino and latte are all strong and flavorful, and their cold brew made me a fan of cold brews now. Their pastries are also really good, which is a plus. It's hip without being pretentious, for those who love just coffee and milk without the sugary spices stuff (though they do carry non-dairy milks if you so choose). Their napkins are always tastefully laid out, which shows they pay attention to the smallest of details (and trust me, it doesn't go unnoticed). We come here every chance we have....
