The Oriental Mission Church — Attraction in Los Angeles

OMC should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. They have refused to acknowledge the growing encampment right behind their lot (on Oxford Ave), causing our neighborhood to turn into a dangerous, drug ridden, health hazard for the community. OMC is aware that this is on their property, and not LA county’s. So when reported by everyone, LA county will not step in.

OMC rents out parking spaces to several surrounding parking lots for around $100/month per car. They only care about greed, and apparently not keeping their community safe or clean (when they can afford it). We noticed recently that they left notes on vehicles that they are going to “renovate” a lot, and everything needs to be removed. This lot is not the one associated with the homeless encampment. This means they are willing to pour $1,000’s into making more money, but they can’t help clean up the homeless that’s on THEIR property to keep us all safe??? Typical religious BS.

All of us neighbors are starting to form ways to go after OMC, and preparing to reach out to news outlets to bring this out-of-control mess to the community. All they would have to do is build a simple chainlink fence to keep out the homeless, but they refuse.

This church does not care about their neighborhood. They rent out 5 surrounding parking lots, yet they fail to keep them clean. For months they have been allowing trash & debris to buildup outside of their lot.

Recently they allowed several homeless people to set up on the side of their lot, which has brought a huge encampment, drugs, loose dogs, broken street lights from the power being stolen, and the sidewalk to smell like piss. The encampments have caught on fire many times, and now lays burnt debris everywhere.

Me & other neighbors have reported this to the city, but the city won’t clean it up because that side of the sidewalk is the churches property. I have contacted code enforcement now on the city to do an investigation on the church, and their mess of a property. I will continue to report this until something is done.
