They make awesome and very large size Tamales here at $3 dollars each I believe but we'll worth its price, they also serve champurado which taste exactly like I remember having it as a kid in East Los Angeles not that many restaurantsvan make it that way where you get flashbacks from your childhood when you eat or drink something you haven't had in a long time. The only downside is it's cash only and when it comes to ordering ahead it's a first come first serve specially for holidays so you sort of take your chances coming here in person and hoping that you can get your self some Tamales. So to be fair, the Tamales are indeed SUPER DELICIOUS but I gotta deduct some stars for the (Cash Only) Inconvenience as being able to accept multiple methods of payments would Increase business sales as well as make it easier for a customer to come and buy what they want without having to worry about carrying cash on them. 2. The first come first serve deal when it comes to trying to order ahead and pick up or Holiday Ordering. I think the star rating I'm giving is fair. However if they start to accept credit and debit cards in the future I'll be happy to change my star rating to 4 stars. Hope you found my review helpful again it's definitely worth it to come here but just remember what I said, it's cash only and it's a first come first serve type of...
Read moreSo, a little torn over 4 or 5 stars. Staff here is good, the chicken tamales are outstanding, the rest is fine. Have watched the prices go up over the years, understand that costs increase, however for the increase in price, the location has not improved from what I can tell. I remember when the tamales were $1.50 pre tax, and now they are $2.50 post tax (cash only) and it hasn't changed. Quality has not changed, so very happy with that, but after so long would hope for visible location improvements with the price increase. Parking is ok, may be an issue as there isn't a whole lot, plus getting in and out will be an issue unless you are going north in and out of the location. San Fernando is a busy street, no control over that obviously, but that just adds to the little reasons why I can't rate this place 5 stars. (No single thing to point at, just a lot of minor things that add up.) No bathrooms, seating is accessible. There is an ATM, but it charges $3.50 per transaction, so stop at a bank on your way there, like I said earlier CASH ONLY. Highly recommend the chicken tamales, try these if your first time. Should mention that for the chicken tamales you are getting what...
Read moreGot there at 5:20 this morning. Cars were rolling into the parking lot but no one stood outside because of the cold. As soon as one car unloaded and stood on the sidewalk, everyone else piled out. There's a good mix of patrons, Hispanic, African-American, Caucasian and of course Asian. We were about 5th in line but didn't get out of the shop for about 30 minutes. Lot's of big orders to fill. Most people were buying 3 to 5 dozen tamales. The steamers were emptying out pretty quickly. Most orders consisted of Chicken and Pork. Not overly spicy, very flavorful and a good balance of meat and masa. The chicken was nicely shredded and didn't have the grizzle that some places put into their...
