I don't understand why this place gets such high marks as the food is as best mediocre and the physical location, dark and depressing. When I exited my vehicle I noted the sign that had the words Kabob Bowl. As I walked towards the front doors, I noticed the windows were dark and dirty and thought the establishment might be out of business. When I got to the doors, I drew close to the windows and saw three customers in line. I pulled the door open and surprisingly, the place was open and apparently in business. As stated before, the place is dark and depressing. I knew I would have to take my food to go.
The menu offers a wide variety of items including appetizers and of course, bowls. The bowls offered a beef, chicken, a combination of beef and chicken and vegetables. These come with rice or salad and sides though the names of the sides were not referenced in the overhead menu.
Thankfully, I accessed the internet via my phone and confirmed that the sides are:
Hummus
Shirazi Yogurt Spinach Yogurt Cucumber Pickled Turnips Red Bean Stew Veggies Lentil Soup
I had no idea what Shirazi is but discovered via the internet that it is an Iranian salad.
I decided on ordering a combination plate. The first question I was asked was if I wanted rice or salad. I replied "a salad please." The server then proceeded to prepare a bowl. Clearly, I wasn't going to have a comibination plate. The server proceeded to place a large amount of iceberg lettuce in a bowl and asked if I wanted vegetales atop it or salad pointed using the prongs she held towards what I concluded is Shirazi salad. I told her that I would take the shirazi and the vegetables.
She asked if I would like oil and vinegar and I said I would which I would later be glad I did.
She then asked for the kind of meat I wanted. I asked if the chicken was chicken breast. The overhead menu showed an image of nicely sliced chicken breast. She replied, "No, we don't do that." I opted for beef instead.
The beef was not tough and tender enough but was devoid of flavor and apparently not marinated. I added A1 sauce when I returned home. The Shirazi was good as were the vegetables which contained zuccini and red pepper which is high in vitamin C. However, I don't like eating iceberg lettuce because it takes 3 days to digest.
If you decide to eat here and wish to order a combination plate then when asked if you want salad or rice, make sure to specify that you want a combination plate otherwise you will get...
Read moreI love it here, and just doing a review as I was about to go a 2nd time this week (I usually only get to go once a week due to my schedule, but I’m on vacation this week) and was checking the menu online and noticed a ridiculous review from someone scared of the dark and unable to digest iceberg lettuce (seriously, buddy learn to cook and stay away from restaurants ) . So this place is a hidden GEM! The food is fresh and amazing, the staff is sweet, caring and highly efficient, the prices are fair and reasonable, and the hummus is literally my favorite hummus and I’ve had many. I normally go once a week and get 2 of the chicken bowls, one with lettuce (because I’m normal) and shrazi and hummus and cucumber yogurt, and a 2nd bowl for my wife that is exactly the same except every item is separated (she is a Virgo). After only the first few weeks they remembered my order including my wife’s packaging modifications. Some months back I came in after a bad hand injury, and to this day they always check how it’s healing. I could go on but getting hungry and have to get my bowl (or might try a wrap for...
Read moreI get the chicken wrap everything in it, with chipotle hot sauce, habanero hot sauce, and creamy chipotle. It’s a great price and is large and dense— makes for 2 meals. I think it’s delicious and it stays together, which is something I appreciate. People taking about it being dark…. It’s 100 degrees out! It’s nice and cool in there, very spacious. The people there are sweet. I go about once a week, happy to have it local. I haven’t had anything other than the chicken wrap but hey if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, so I will continue getting that. Kabob...
