We tried this restaurant for the 1st time last Saturday. We were actually going to go to Salsa & Beer but didn't feel like waiting an hour for a table. My fiancé was craving a Michelada so after a quick Google search we ended up here. 1: The decor is very cute. Very bright, very "latin". It's nice 2: All the staff were very nice but the service was a little slow. They did seem under staffed & they were very busy. It's a good thing we weren't hangry cause we didn't mind the wait The food: I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately most of our food lacked any flavor. Let's start with the chips & salsa. The salsa had good heat to it. Not spicy at all but a little kick unfortunately not enough salt & for some reason it had this sweetness to it that we couldn't figure out. A little heavy on the orégano but it was the lack of salt for me. The drinks were good: fiancé had the house michelada w/ modelo & I had the mango raspado (can't remember the actual name) both very good. For appetizer we had the carnitas flautas. The crispy flour tortilla with the carnitas were very good & flavorful. My fiancé ordered the campechana coctel which was also good. Needed some salt & limón but the pulpo (octopus) was cooked perfectly, not rubbery at all. But over all good flavor to it. I ordered the pollo asado with a side of rice and beans. My plate lacked seasoning or any flavor. You see, you know if a Mexican restaurant is going to to be good by the tatse of their beans. It's always the first thing I try & they were pretty disappointing. I personally don't like the texture when they are blended but not a deal breaker. They just tasted so bland, no salt, no flavor just plain, it was very weird. Once you miss out on adding enough salt during the boiling process they won't take salt afterwards. I'm mexican and grew up eating beans so I know my beans. Rice= bland. Chicken = bland. And to top it off there wasn't any salsa to go with it. No tomatillo or molcajete nothing. Just the one from the chips but I didn't really like it so I wasn't going to add it to my chicken. My fiancé also ordered a side of rice & beans & he was also disappointed. His favorite thing to eat are beans and immediately didn't like them. So the food that was good was good enough but the one that wasn't was just very bland. Mexican cuisine is full of flavor & spices & just over all goodness & this restaurant unfortunately didn't meet those standards. Maybe it was an off day because it has a lot of good reviews but probably won't be back...
Read moreI took my wife here to celebrate our 4 years since having our first date around the area. I saw this place before when I was in the plaza the restraunt is located in but never had the chance to dine here. I figure my wife would love this place so tonight was the perfect time to come. The biggest issue you'll experience here is finding parking because it can get packed. I was lucky enough to find a spot near the front of the restrauant when I pulled in. When we walked in, Samantha took us to our table and the first thing you'll notice about her is her upbeat attitude. She was amazing and made sure we had a wonderful time. My wife started off with their tortilla soup which she loved. I got their Carne Asada entrée which I think the Carne asada was delicious until I got to the part where it was sitting on the onion. I know next time to ask for no beans and onions. My wife couldn't decide between the Mole or the Arroz Con Pollo so she asked Samantha for recommendation. She told her to order the Arroz Con Pollo and she'll bring the Mole sauce so my wife can try it with the chicken. We really love the amazing customer service and that she paid attention to our table throughout our meal. My wife loved the Mole more than the Arroz Con Pollo so she's planning on ordering that the next time we come here. This place has only been here for about 2 years so it's somewhat new.
My score: Food: 5 star, the Carne asada was tasty and cooked perfectly to medium rare so I enjoyed it.
Service: 5 star, Samantha was amazing and we had a wonderful time dining here
Atmosphere: 5 star, the place is nicely decorated and they have some TV is you want to watch sports.
Parking: 2 star, parking will be most difficult part and we came on a Thursday night but the lot...
Read moreFood was not so great. Took a long time to have my enchilada plate come to my table. Enchilada plate was not good. The enchilada sauce was watery and the tortillas were hard. There was an issue with them bringing a Carne asada plate to my table when It wasn't ordered. However I ended up taking it home cause I was severely disappointed with the cheese enchilada plate that I received. In terms of the Carne asada plate, I ordered the asada well done. I received it medium. I found out when i got home and ended up having to cook it more. I ordered a flan which wasn't good. It was severely sweet. I love sweet but not that sweet. They seemed to have added more things to the flan to make it more sweet and make it look fancy. Real good flan doesn't need all the theatrics. The things that made me rate this a 3/5 was that the michelada was really really good. Loved the fresh cut cucumber and tajin they add on the rim. The salsa was really...
