Disappointing Service - Not Worth the Hype

First and foremost, this review is entirely based on the awful service we received. We came in with high expectations based on the glowing reviews, but what we experienced was beyond frustrating.

We arrived, were seated, and placed a simple order--three rolls and garlic edamame. Nearly one hour later, all we had received was one roll and one cold order of Edamame and NOTHING else, while other customers who arrived long after us were being served promptly. Granted, this was served to us AFTER we inquired that we had been waiting for nearly 1 hour.

After flagging someone down to ask about our food, the manager casually drops off our long-forgotten, ice-cold edamame with a half-hearted apology. Not only was it cold and soggy, but it was also condensed with moisture, clearly sitting out on the counter for who knows how long.

When we inquired about the rest of our order, we were met with attitude instead of accountability. The manager was defensive and dismissive, acting like we were the problem for asking why our food never arrived. With how many takeout orders they were prioritizing over dine-in customers, we finally had enough and asked to cancel the rest of our order.

But wait--it gets worse. They still charged us for the sad, soggy edamame. So after an hour and 20 minutes, we walked out, $40 down, with nothing but a bad taste in our mouths--and not from the food.

It's a family-owned business, and we love supporting small restaurants, but that does not excuse poor service and outright rude behavior. If you're too overwhelmed with takeout orders to properly serve your dine-in customers, either fix your system or stop taking more than you can handle.

At the end of the day, it's not my responsibility to pay for your bad attitude. We won't be coming back.

And just like the service we received--this review is written in...

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A Five-Star Flavor Journey at Mon Japanese Restaurant!

This place? Legendary. The fish is fresher than your last life decision, and the Premium Chirashi could make a sushi snob weep with joy. That Sashimi over rice? A spiritual experience. The Spicy Creamy Vegetable Ramen is a warm, spicy hug in a bowl—vegetarians and flavor chasers, rejoice. And if you’re more of a meat-and-seafood connoisseur, Mon’s got you with chicken, steak, shrimp, and so many ocean treasures, you’ll start questioning why you ever settled for takeout sushi in the past. Beverages? Oh, just a lovely lineup of sake, teas that smell like serenity, and sodas for the young (or young at heart). The vibe is pure cozy Tokyo café, lovingly run by the friendliest Japanese family you’ll ever meet. Seriously, they make you feel like part of the family—if your family cooked like culinary wizards. Pro tip: It gets busy. Like, “waiting out front pretending you're fine but secretly tracking every table” busy. But they do offer takeout for those days when your...

I really wanted Ramen for my birthday dinner. It's been cold and windy out and I just wanted something light. After ruling out a few places I found this restaurant. My boyfriend was kind enough to order and pick up take out for us.

He said that this place was really cute and looked like it would be a good place to go back to for date night some time. He also said that since it was a weeknight he had no issues with parking but could see it turning into a nightmare on nights that were busy.

That said - I ordered the Tokyo Ramen and he ordered the Mon Original Ramen. Funny enough, when I tasted mine I didn't really like it (Tokyo Ramen has seaweed and it was throwing me off). So we switched right away and were both very happy!

We both got spice level 1 and I found it to be the perfect burn I was looking for.

I can't wait to go to the restaurant some day to try other things on their menu. I'm really happy I...

Came to this store w a friend on Thursday night, had good time:) It’s chill, quiet place for catching up w old friends (might get crowd on weekend maybe?) and cozy (I really like this kinda small size sushi place, which I think it’s supposed to be, like family owned Japanese sushi place). Each of us ordered one kinda of sushi and craft beer, all good. It would a place on my list for greeting my old friends:)

The best! All foods are great and fresh. Must try the blue fin toro and spicy shrimp handroll! They make foods with heart. They have a diverse menu. But no matter what you order, they never let you down. We have been eating here for couple years. Great services with big smiles. They remember all things that you like.
