The only reason I put 3 stars is because i tried this place 2 different times and the 1st time was like a month ago roughly and the food was delicious! I got the felafel sandwich and the felafel was cooked perfectly nice and moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside and a nice fresh pita bread they came in. BOMB! So I had a craving for that same sandwich last week and so I went to go get it! I was starving because it was already late in the day while I'm at work. I show up and he was excited to tell me the felafel were fresh etc... I was so pumped up with excitement! He made my order and charged me $9.99 ok thats fine but then the total came out to $11.33. I thought the taxes seemed kind of high. Well thats because he OVERCHARGED me for my rinky sandwich. Taxes in Pedro are 9.5%. My order should have been $10.94 including tax. My suggestion is getting a cash register that does all these sales trsaction for you sir. Makes it way easier and you won't be shooing customers away for overcharging them like you did me. That little calculator is NOT working. CHECK YOUR TAXES ON YOUR MEAL HERE GUYS OR ELSE YOU MIGHT BE SPENDING MORE THAN YOU EXPECTED!! In addition my falafel that day was crunchy as hell inside i couldnt even chew the falafel because the grains inside hurt my teeth. I dont know makes me sad because the owner is cool and the felafel are bomb just try not to rush when preparing orders that way you maintain your consistency on delivering A-1 food. I may return I may not but i will definately check my taxes before i leave. Hope this...
Read moreAfter reading other reviews of this establishment, it’s hard to imagine that I was at the same place other customers describe, or maybe my standards are higher. Either way, find yourself somewhere else to eat if you want to enjoy your meal! First and foremost: the inside is outdated, cheaply thrown together, and not inviting. Secondly, and just as important, the food is TERRIBLE. I’ve been to the Middle East, eaten the food there and also frequent many Middle Eastern cuisines in the area from San Diego to Los Angeles. The immediate turn off was the “hummus”. The hummus was so bad I couldn’t even eat it. The bread they served with the hummus was half luke warm and half cold. The hummus was essentially smashed (still chunky) garbanzos with garlic mixed in. No tahini or lemon was involved, it was downright shameful. My third let down was the price. I understand that prices are going up and I should expect to pay a little more at a small mom and pop shop, and I’m ok with that. But when a single shawarma (sandwich) costs more than $15 without any sides or drink is unacceptable. When I inquired with the man that I presume is the owner about the item, he responded in a way that made me feel dumb for even asking if the plate came with more than just the sandwich. Bottom line: FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO SPEND...
Read moreThis place is SO lovely. All the food was amazing; I especially loved the crispy falafel, the garlicky dressing on the Lebanese salad, and the refreshing jallab! My friends also had some great coffee that they loved. Seriously, it was some of the best falafel I've ever had (and I've had a lot!!) and definitely the best jallab I've ever had.
The two people serving us were both extremely charming, helpful, attentive, and generous. Great sense of humor, too. (:
It's a very pleasant place to dine in, as well. They have lots of interesting and nice decor/art (and we think a great photo of Nicholas Cage??). It felt very comfortable, like a place you'd want to visit again and again.
I wish we lived closer so we could go here more. Don't...
