Ono Hawaiian BBQ — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I was surprised to see that others had a bad experience with the girls that work in the front too, and with the same kind of interaction it's uncanny. We thought we were singled out.

This happened on their anniversary day, so granted it was busy. We only ordered an order of spam misubi and 2 scoops of Mac salad for our daughter. We waited for a while for our order, and numbers after our number were called. We weren't upset, just wanted to check in on our order so we asked. One of the girls snatched the receipt from my wife and said it's not ready and tossed it back with an attitude. We waited off to the side and another 30 minutes later, we went to check in again, and the same girl said "your number was already called, you got your order already." We were so shocked, my wife and I waited so long listening out and they NEVER called out our order. When we told her we never received the order, she snatched the receipt again with an attitude, told the kitchen workers to pack the misubi and salad, and literally dropped it in front of us and walked away. When we asked to speak to her manager she said they were busy and walked away. We left it at that and have never returned since. If you can't handle working under pressure, then don't work in this field. She was clearly flustered and gave us an attitude for no reason. I stopped here to pick up lunch since I wanted something different and was in the plaza this place is at. I never been here but I did look at their menu before on their website and Yelp. Finding parking where this place is at is simple because it's in a big plaza with many parking spots. When I walked in, I saw that they allow people to dine inside and has a fountain machine where you'll fill up your own drink. I looked at their menu and went with #42 which was the beef/chicken combo. Keep in mind that the entrée does not come with a drink included. My food took about 5-10 minutes to come out and I went to eat it at my house. When I open the box, the food look alright to me. They don't give a lot of rice but you get a decent amount of chicken and beef. I had 1 piece of broccoli, there were some lettuces underneath and you get some macaroni. It is pricer than other meals you can get elsewhere with a drink included but it's just something to try. I would prefer other places before coming here but if I was in the area again and didn't want what other stores in this plaza has then I would try something else...

Be sure to double check your food for foreign matter. Was just there last night and found a strip of thin metal in with my beef. Thankfully I seen it before putting it in my mouth. Guess it’s from the scouring pads for cleaning the grill, but here’s the thing, I overheard the girl tell the manager “look it happened again!” She’s the one who took the shard of metal from my hands to show the manager. The manager was polite in apologizing. But she should’ve changed the methods of cleaning used after the first incidence. How many times did it really happen before? That piece of metal could cut a person’s mouth and cause damage is swallowed. Unsafe practices. They should change to brushes. Anyhow, just a good measure to always check your food anyways. I was considering taking my family there today, glad I experienced it first. Don’t think I’ll return even though she made an offer. Too bad because it just opened not too long ago.
