Today was a mixed bag of thoughts... First, because I was starving, and second, because I'm a Chinese food lover... and I assure you, the food I got today at this place was an insult. Terrible. I ordered "shrimp fried rice"... It's one of my favorite Chinese dishes, but the flavor of this fried rice was a little off; it seemed like the chef had used the same pan he'd already used today for other dishes without washing it... The fried rice had a burnt taste... It also had some cold, unmixed chunks of steamed rice; it seemed like it was rice from yesterday, at least. The scrambled egg that usually comes with this type of rice was very dry (overcooked), I think it was because they overheated the refrigerated steamed rice and added the eggs too early... Totally disappointing. As for the service, I'm divided. The waiter was very friendly, but when I arrived, I was the only one in the lobby, where it says "Please wait here to be seated." From across the room, a woman asked me in a very unwelcoming manner, "What do you need?" I replied that I needed a table. And since I was really hungry, I decided to stay... I wish I hadn't. Anyway, the atmosphere is fine, but not as good as you would expect due to what I just described. For sure I won't come back. It's unfortunate that in the neighborhood we have not many Chinese options for food.

We've been here throughout the years for regular dinners, Mother's Day dinners, and even graduation dinners, so this is definitely a good place for a sit-in, no matter the occasion. Today we had very quick service, we ordered the Almond Chicken and the Beef Lo Mein, and received our food within ten minutes. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive, and the environment is very welcoming, inviting, and relaxing. I feel very at ease here, and have enjoyed spending time with my family with great food, great portions, and great prices.

This place has been here for years but I just got introduced to them. My go to foods are walnut shrimp, chicken chow mein no veggies, beef and broccoli, or the bbq pork fried rice. They offer delivery service if you're within a certain mileage but I live too far to take advantage of that. I reccomend ordering ahead because they are always busy. Such great delicious food highly recommended.

A Hidden Gem in Granada Hills – Mandarin Island Restaurant

Finding Mandarin Island Restaurant was one of the best things that happened to us! Their food brings back the amazing flavors we remember from New York Chinese cuisine—something we haven’t been able to find anywhere else in the area.

The BBQ spare ribs are absolutely fantastic and taste just like the ones we used to enjoy in New York. Their shrimp with lobster sauce is flavorful, filled with large, juicy shrimp, and incredibly delicious. We also love the sweet & sour chicken, which is perfectly balanced and cooked to perfection.

Some of our other favorites include the shrimp fried rice, beef with broccoli, fried wontons, and the tangarian chicken, which you can get spicy or mild. Every dish is fresh, tasty, and satisfying.

Whether you’re dining in for lunch, ordering takeout, or having food delivered (which they conveniently do in our Granada Hills area for a nominal delivery fee of just two dollars), we highly recommend Mandarin Island. It’s truly a local treasure!

They also offer online coupons, which makes their already great food an even...

Wow what a horrible experience at this place. I've been going to this place for the past 10 years and it used to be great. I have not been for about 6 months and I have no idea if they changed management or ownership. But everything from the service, the seating, the dirty carpet and the food was just horrible. They should be a shame of themselves. We waited for a long time to be seated when the place was half empty, then the waiter did not even say hello, he was just not friendly at all and was very rushed. When the food finally arrived my noodle beef soup was 90% lard and fat, when I explained to them they had a terrible attitude and would not fix it. My Mother and I simply did not eat...
