If you love food, this restaurant is a must try in Los Angeles! Anything you order will look beautiful and taste delicious. The shrimp burger was balanced with a delicious crunchy slaw, soft bun, and perfectly cooked shrimp. Their jam cupcake and cookies were some of the best desserts that we’ve tried. The shrub was refreshing and reminiscent of kombucha. The owner, Mark served us. He is genuinely passionate about the food that he and his wife serve, the sourcing of each ingredient, and the relationships that he’s built throughout this neighborhood. He made sure that we were taken care of throughout our entire meal. Check out their store across the street, called Here You Are. They sell jams, shrubs, cutlery, cooking items, kids toys, self care items, and a bunch of other locally-sourced goods, which would be great gifts for anyone in your life.

If there ever was a restaurant that does everything right and makes it look easy, it’s Open Face Food Shop. This is one of my favorite spots in Los Angeles. The service is impeccable - it has that sweet neighborhood friendliness combined with the expert attention to make you feel like your dining experience is personalized for you. The dishes are incredibly fresh, healthy, seasonal, and flavorful. They don’t try to offer you a menu that’s a mile long - instead, they know that everything on their curated menu can be done very well, and it’s true - I always find something different to eat here and it is ALWAYS great. Other praises: their patio is lovely, they are kind to our dog, and they have a super charming new shop across the street that’s like a gift shop / general store. I love this place and I hope their residency in west Adams is long-lived!

Everything about this place is delightful. We stumbled across it while in the area and are so glad we did. The food is delicious and so fresh, the staff/owner is so warm and welcoming, and they have a cute little cosy patio area to dine in. They also have a “secret” menu, depending on what they have made that day. My husband got the open face sandwich and was able to get the pork that came with crackling. Can I just say I think I died and woke up in food heaven! I got the danish open face burger and it was perfection. We were so full and satisfied but we ofc had to get dessert - a cherry rice pudding. Bloody delicious!!! We will be back!

A fantastic dining experience from start to finish for sure. I was actually on my way to a more "standard" cafe down the street for the usual pancakes and bacon, when I passed by this restaurant. The name caught my eye and the incredibly gracious host and owner, Mark, was quick to notice. They were still twenty minutes from opening, but he nevertheless invited me to sit down and enjoy some tea with the promise of an expedited order. Charming conversationally and efficient in his work the man was a delightful individual who welcomed and seemed to know every person who walked, biked, or drove past. Fully knowing everything there is to know of the menu he made a suggestion that I was happy to take, The Egg On Egg. It tasted amazing and I give my full regards and compliments to the talented chef who prepared it. It was made with a few ingredients that I do not usually enjoy, such as pickles, but they were prepared with such skill and care that I found myself converted at that moment to a lover of the briney taste. It was a carefully constructed cuisine that I count as my new favorite breakfast.

And I haven't even mentioned the cherry and chocolate oatmeal cookies that carried me to Danish heaven. They are a must get to be sure.

All-in-all, a more perfect time I could not describe. I shall be returning quickly and hungrily. You would do well...

I'm lucky enough to have a job that requires me to go all over Los Angeles, so that gives me plenty of opportunities to try all kinds of different restaurants. I can say without reservation that Open Face Food Shop is my absolute favorite in the entire city.

They get their produce fresh from a farmer's market every morning, so your sandwich is going to have sweeter, crisper, and juicier vegetables than anywhere else. Their menu is constantly changing, so there's always something new to try. LA is full of restaurateurs who are jerks, but not Mark and Lene. They are two of the nicest people around, and it's evident that they love what they do. They are passionate about making the best food and providing the most welcoming service and atmosphere to everyone who walks through their little black gate.

If you can't find parking on Adams Blvd, park on one of the side streets and walk. Open Face Food Shop is worth every step it takes...

First off I want to say the owner(s) are delightful and so is the staff. I would recommend coming here when you have a moment to relax and indulge in wholesome conversation because these people are charming af.

I was in a rush and ordered the chicken salad sandwich purely out of convenience and it completely changed my worldview on what can be accomplished in a sandwich. It was creamy without that overpowering "mayo" flavor (idk if the base even was mayo but it was delicious) and came covered in a variety of delicately pickled veggies–including a "crispy caper" that was so good I missed my exit TWICE when I was first tasting it. The baguette was toasted and the salad was nestled in a gorgeous lettuce leaf so you still got to enjoy a lot of texture without soggying up the bread. Generous portions, very filling, and came with more pickled treats on the side. Worth every penny.

I will be talking about this sandwich for...
