LA Prime is our go-to café. Specifically the OG on Sawtelle Blvd. Finally trying this location out, so here’s a run down:
Coffee and lattes are on point here. I still think they have the best lattes in Japantown (there are about 8-10) so the West Adam’s location should be a welcome addition. Their coffee beans don’t taste bitter nor burnt like others, and the Dolce Latte (half sweetened) is a real treat. The espresso is quite nice as well, and if they’re like the Sawtelle-Japantown location, they will make you almost anything here.
All the food is great here, and never greasy, so more on the healthy side which is always welcome. Expect extreme waffles, hearty breakfast plates (the potatoes are really good) and great smoothies. But from all the breakfast items, the bacon breakfast burrito deserves a special shout out I think. Proper fluffy eggs (not that dry fried-egg nonsense), crisp bacon, black beans, and again nothing is heavy nor greasy here. We sometimes order without the potatoes, and it makes for a great protein style wrap. In all, it is a well-made and constructed burrito, plus fresh avocado is included and that’s never a bad thing. Last time I ordered (Memorial Day weekend 2025), they added a (chipotle?) salsa on the side which is a welcome surprise to go with the chipotle aioli. Also don’t sleep on their lunch sandwiches, I’ve got a soft spot for their spicy chicken, which is grilled and not too spicy but packed with flavor. Like the kids say these days, “it just slaps” 🔥.
We have a brunch of bunch, uh, let me try that again… (need more coffee) We have a bunch of brunch spots in West LA. But LA Prime Caffe stands out for us for its delicious offerings, healthier eats and great staff. Yeah, it’s a hidden gem all right.
And remember, real men drink...
Read moreThe staff were friendly except this one lady who brought out my food. The cashier forgot to put an ingredient removal on the breakfast burrito and when I asked if she could remake without the beans like I asked. She left and came back with the receipt and got upset with me. As it wasn’t on my part that the mistake was made I hope she understands that she should ask the cashier first then if they confirm what the customer says then the issue is resolved. Addressing the customer in an unprofessional manner can affect business in a negative way. I didn’t appreciate being passively called a liar and receiving a huff of frustration in my face when I stated that I told the cashier I didn’t want that ingredient on my food. After she went to the cashier to confirm he came back and profusely apologized to me and my food was remade. He definitely alleviated the situation with his kindness. Other than that, great place for sure. It’s homie and comfortable. The food is great and that matcha coconut latte...
Read moreThe ingredients are clearly very good quality. The food is also very aesthetically appealing. It is also a good value for your money compared to other breakfast/lunch places.
That being said, I do think the food and coffee were overall a little overrated. My breakfast sandwich was fine. Like I said good ingredients and cooked well. But lacked seasoning or anything really special. An aoli or even just some lemon, salt and pepper on the avocado would have made it so much better. The potatoes were seasoned well! The waffle was nice and they did not skimp on the fresh fruit topping.
TDLR: Everything else was a bit bland. This place has potential and is good for a quick and fresh bite. But I’m waiting for them to be great like...
