Semi-regular Salt & Straw patron. Flavors are generally stronger and mix-ins more bountiful than other ice cream places. I'm a big fan of this, but would definitely recommend sampling a couple for first time patrons as I've known some people who find it too much. It's rich and premium, so if you normally get matcha soft serve when you go out for ice cream every flavor might taste too heavy. The bases are consistently smooth and velvety, even the vegan flavors. That said, I'm not a fan of coconut which seems to feature predominantly in every vegan flavor.
It's a bit pricey. A single scoop is $5, kid's scoop is $4, and a waffle cone or toppings would set you back another dollar.
This location is very small, so if it's busy you'll be stuck waiting outside or crowded into the tiny shop. I haven't had a rude scooper yet, but the line can move slow if a group in front of you decides they need to sample half the menu.

Read more#1 go-to dessert place for my friends and me. The best part about Salt & Straw is their customer service! The employees make you feel very welcomed and they don’t mind at all if you taste literally every flavor on their menu, even more than once! They have special flavors that switch in and out each month which makes it fun and keeps you coming. They use locally sourced ingredients so each location has a slightly different menu. As for the flavors, I have my usual go-tos like the Mint Choco chip (v) and salted malted Cookie dough (freckled woodblock chocolate was my fave but recently was removed from the classic flavors). Unique options for all, make sure to try any and all of what remotely looks good to you! (Or ones that look weird if you just want the experience) Lines are usually out the door unless you catch them at a good time. Line moves quickly though....
Read moreFrom the moment you turn around the corner you follow your nose to the source of the most wonderful smelling homemade waffle cones. When you arrive you find yourself in line and have to question whether you are on your way to an ice cream shop or a night club. When you walk in it feels like you are seeing an old friend for the first time, but that friend works at what feels like a high end dessert shop. When they serve your ice cream they perfectly sculpt it with their scoopers like it's an ice sculpture for a celebrity's wedding. When you ask to sample some flavors they say, "I've got you", like a friend who has your back. The flavors are incredible, even when you question the idea of how a pair and blue cheese could taste like a salad and ice cream at the same time. (But in the most wonderful way possible.) Seriously it's good, just go. You...
