Subject: Urgent Complaint – Unprofessional and Disrespectful Service at Starbucks (1450 190th St Ste F, Torrance, CA) Date of Incident: 09/06/2025 | Time: Approximately 4:10 PM
To the Site Manager,
I am writing to formally express my deep disappointment with the service I received at your Starbucks location at 1450 190th St Ste F, Torrance, CA.
On Saturday, September 6th, 2025, at approximately 4:00 PM, I walked into the store and politely asked for a cup of ice water. I also asked if I could charge my phone, as it was completely dead — and my only way to pay is through tap using my mobile wallet. While waiting for it to charge, I was browsing the Starbucks app to decide on my order.
Unexpectedly, a female barista approached me and insisted I place an order immediately or leave. Despite explaining my situation, she continued to speak to me in a harsh and disrespectful tone, ultimately making me feel uncomfortable and even threatened. I was shocked at how I was treated, especially given that I had every intention of making a purchase as soon as my phone had enough battery.
Her behavior was rude, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. Customers should never be made to feel unwelcome simply for needing a few moments to charge a phone and place an order. I left the store feeling disrespected and embarrassed.
I will be letting my family, friends, and the local Torrance community know about this experience, and I will not be returning to this location.
Dear Manager, I strongly urge you to take immediate action to address this unacceptable behavior. No customer should ever be treated in such a way, and I hope you ensure it does not...
Read moreI went to Starbucks this morning ordered my drink and snack, It wasn't really busy. I ordered a Venti Americano, side of heavy cream and a Trenta glass of ice with no water. Well the barista making the drinks put a Trenta glass of Ice with water on the counter and I didn't hear him call a name out, I was the only person waiting for any drinks at this time. And I asked him if I could please have that with no water, all ice. The barista turned around and pick up the glass of ice water and look, at me and said to me not very nicely "Are you Kwan" ? and I said no and that I was sorry about that. He gave me by glass of Ice and Americano, And then I said can I please have my heavy cream that I ordered. The barista gave me a side of heavy cream with no lid and put it on the counter, Like I was bothering him or something. So I saw his name tag and I said hey "Doug" can I please have a lid for my heavy cream, he turned around and took his name tag off and put it in his pocket and then gave me the lid. All I can say is "WOW" How rude can you be. I know that we all have bad days but COME ON!! Put a smile on your face Doug!! Or are you really Doug, since you took off the name tag?? Male with Dark hair and a pony tail.
You don't even deserve one star...

Read moreWe where visiting that area from Seattle and well we buy 4-6 cup a day from Starbucks. Well as a deaf person who creates deaf workshops all over the united state (over 100 a year) we visit many places and many Starbucks and we sometime document visits and how others react to a deaf person. After taking a photo and not of one with any employee in the frame but only of the presenter (Trix). One of the female barista started yelling at us about taking a photo in "Her" shop. She continued to yell, make obscene comments while her back was turned to us, (very disrespectful of people who are deaf) acting like some super star diva. She claimed to be the manager but when I asked for a business cards her name was not on it and all the while yelling and calling name in front of a full store.
It is one thing to ask nicely it is another to act as a fool.
She is an employee that needs to be fired ASAP there are far to many good people needing work to have someone like this employed.
As an employer of over 150 I would have fired her on the spot, you never treat a customer like this and a Deaf costumer you can be looking at some talk time with...
