Look no further, tons of sushi restaurants on this block, stop here! My brother and I were driving around the valley looking for sushi spot at 8 pm on Friday evening and other spots were long wait or closing by 9 pm. Saw not much reviews on this place so was stoked to see what this spot is about. Well my brother and I were so glad we did! One of the best spots we've had, and I've had sushi in motherland. When it comes to Los Angeles standard this place is the benchmark. The sushi and rolls here are not saturated with rice, it's a perfect balance of fish with rice. Also their rice is delicious! Tried lots of items but you can't go wrong with anything here it seems. We ordered Toro, and baked salmon roll with eel and avocado and edamame with baked scallops. The service here is wonderful too! The owners are here jump starting the place and they're lively and very sweet. The green tea is great too, the owner tries and drinks a lot of tea on her own time so she selects the stuff that she would drink herself. Make sure you try the mochi! Definitely coming back for other specials.

Excellent sushi. Johana my server was very attentive and made sure I had everything I needed. I had their salmon teriyaki a la carte, and a rainbow roll. The miso soup that I chose was fabulous and very flavourful and fresh. The salad even had a nice butterfly tomato, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The rainbow roll was a good size and everything has good portions, will be back for more. Steven the owner was very nice and obviously cares a great deal about his craft and his business.

We had the best Japanese food dining experience in Los Angeles at this restaurant. Steven and Michelle are indeed very experienced couple in catering the sashimi and sushi, as well as other in-house specialies. Bryan is also a very fun and energic individual. We had a blast.

My husband and I had high hopes for Starlight because of all the positive reviews but unfortunately our experience did not live up to the hype.

There were a number of things that went awry. Our server was kind but service was awful. For whatever reason, our first order was never fully entered so we waited almost an hour and only received 1 of the 5 sashimi dishes we ordered. By the time our server realized, she reassured us they would get the rest of our orders out ASAP but the dishes still took a long time which was crazy considering we ordered sashimi, and not nigiri or a cut roll that requires more ingredients or time to put together.

Next issue was with the food itself. Quality of the fish was lackluster, mainly due to the prep. Some of their specialty sashimi items that we ordered came out cold, almost icy in the middle. We also found multiple scales and bones in our sashimi, which was just a huge disappointment. Portions were small for the price, which would have been fine if the quality was there but sadly it wasn't.

Overall a subpar experience for the price and sadly, we will not be returning nor would we...

I don't often take time to write a review but I'm so thrilled this place has opened as their sushi is excellent and I love their creativity. They do some things that other people do not but for the purest, they will be happy with the classics as well as their quality is really amazing. I had so many places come and go especially because of covid that I'm really hoping we all go support them and keep it open. It's so great to have that neighborhood find that is not just "okay because its close" but excellent and...
