I had great expectations, but unfortunately the experience was not good. After an extremely long wait (over 2 hours) the owner still did not make us feel at home. Instead, once we got to our table, which was set for a previous party of 12, she tried to remove one of the small tables from our setup. Which would have made our party of 11 squeeze into a table set for 10. There is no way we would have been comfortable once all the food hit the table. The table would have been over crowded with plates, bowls and cups. So we insisted to keep our table set as is. Then she got a nasty attitude. Did I mention that we drove over an hour to get this treatment. Then we got the food. Why was my daughter's cheeseburger spicy? She ordered a cheeseburger because she's a kid and doesn't eat spicy food. Just leave the burger alone! Don't spice EVERYTHING! Something has to be kid friendly. Then the gumbo. OMG, thr gumbo needs to be official, but it was not. The flavor was there, but no roux. It was just soup. Then it had no substance and they filled it with a mountain of rice. I paid for gumbo, not rice with soup. Come on man, put the rice on the side! I did not make that long drive, wait over 2 hours, then get treated rudely by the owner to end up with a giant bowl of rice with soup poured over! I will not be back. It's a shame, because this place has history. The original owner needs to take it back over. The food industry is not for everyone. I get that it is hard business, but that's why you have to love it. And check the attitude. When you screw up, achknowledge people, make it right. We were told 1.5 hour wait, and we decided to wait. But when it turns into 2.5 hours you should expect our party to have some level of irritation. Good customer service would have at least acknowledged, apologized, offered free drinks while we wait, free dessert or something. But don't get an attitude when you sense our irritation. It's called damage control. Some people have it and some don't. I mean, we arrived for brunch (1pm) we didn't leave until 5pm. And never got any sort of touch from the owner. SMH. Our guest of honor was turning 60. It was his birthday ruined. As an LAPD officer, he was treated horribly in the city that he protects and serves. Never again! The only reason why I gave 2 stars for service is because of the young man who served us....
Read moreListen, I do not write reviews ever ! But I found this place on tiktok and let me just say this was the first time tiktok failed me . THIS PLACE IS NASTY! Let me start off to say I was so excited to try the gumbo that I heard so much about because I love me some good gumbo which is hard to come across …. First look when it came out was wow presentation looks great, but the gumbo looked light in color but hey let’s try it ! …. Then I tried it and DISGUSTING AND OVERLY SPICY ! Yes the crab was cut for you so that was cute but it’s all it was just presentation . MARDI GRAS TUESDAY IS WAY BETTER HANDS DOWN AND NOT AS PRICY ! My husband had the creole pasta that we also say on tiktok … his exact words were “ it taste like chipotle volcano taco from taco bell with no seasoning and super saucy and oily “ . My son had the fried chicken wings and he just said they were Okay nothing crazy special something our grandma makes at home . To top it all off the we paid about $150 for 3 meals . BOTTOM LINE THIS PLACE IS OVER HYPED . As a women whose family owns many restaurants maybe the original recipe got screwed up over times in the hands of diffent chefs but this place was awful . BUT ILL GIVE JR TO THEM FOR THE MAC N CHEESE. Probably the best Mac n cheese I ever had in my life but everything else we had and all our other sides were terrible. I wish people left more honest reviews, I’m sure the reviews they have were asked to by friend and customers who don’t know that there is better creole food !
If you don’t believe me go try MARDI GRAS TUESDAY for yourself and be the critic . I’m just soo mad that’s all I can say . The amount of money I spent and how disappointed I am … it’s just sad never felt the need to ever write a review for anywhere but I just to keep it real .
If you’re thinking about trying this place save your money !
Not to mention they added their own service charge to a table of 3 ?! That’s crazy. The service was great but we came for the food and traveled in traffic and it was such a...
Read moreI've visited Stevie's in the past and it's normally our go-to when we crave Home-cooked Soulfood dishes. BUT, something is or was off yesterday when we visited. The food: 3 The service: 3 (not all her fault, she should have had help on a Friday evening)
Food: I had the shrimp and grits and my husband the small gumbo, that was on point, you know the dishes they do well and put love into, everything about those dishes were spot on. After that somewhat downhill. The dinner special, chicken fry well, red and rice, NO SEASONING, since when, it's always been on point. The yams, not sweet at all, taste no cinnamon, nothing. I carry little condiments with me, so I fix that. The husband, poor thing, he food came 10 minutes after mines, BUT WENT TO THE WRONG TABLE, WHAT??? She did apologize, and said they were remaking it. Pretty sure they forgot, his food didn't come out for another 20 minutes. I was already done, and we were waiting for his food. Which he had the catfish dinner, fish was good, red beans same as mines no taste, broccoli, no butter, no SEASONING nothing. HE WAS THE ONE THAT WAS LOOKING FOWARD TO COMING HERE.
Service: 1st again, I'm in the hospitality industry, so I know those days working alone, and she really should have had backup with serving. SHOUT OUT TO HER WORKING THAT CROWD ALONE!!!However, there are things you can do to assist with that, writing the order, so you don't forget items, I ordered 2 cornbread muffins, didn't receive, went to counter to ask for them, couldn't get attention as she was trying to send out door dash orders. As this point the restaurant is FULL of people. PAUSE the door dash app orders to take care of us. And most of us were very patient, considering the situation. When dropping food ask if I need condiments, another fork, spoon, something. Nothing, had to either wait to ask or again I carry some stuff with me. But who wants to wait, and allow the food to get cold. Especially for the price.
We will hopefully get to try one more time before we leave,...
