I very cozy no fuss, no frills Chinese American restaurant in Highland Park.
Their menu includes Chinese dishes that are served at most Chinese restaurants in Los Angels, made fresh with no MSG. Their minimalist menu is intended for simplicity and ease of ordering for pickup or delivery. Their location has very limited seating (3 tables), so recommend ordering online and picking up to dine at home. ($20 minimum and $4 delivery fee).
Appetizers include crispy nodles, egg rolls, cheese crab puffs, fried chicken wings or fried shrimp. Soup served are hot and sour, egg drop and wonton. Rice is white and brown. Selection of fried rice includes vegetable, meat, seafood or combo for a little more. Your choice of Chow mein is vegetable, chicken, beef, shrimp or a combo for a little more.
From the a la carte menu: Chicken (Kung Pao, Garlic, Mushroom, Sweet & Sour, Chicken & Broccoli or Mixed Vegetables), Beef (Chop Suey, Kung Pao, Spicy Sriracha with snow peas or Black Pepper), Fish (including Hot Szechwan, Crispy or Spicy Sriracha), Shrimp (same as chicken choices, additionally walnut shrimp) and vegetables (string beans, chop suet, eggplant tofu or tofu with brown sauce). There is also a vegetarian menu. as well as a "secret" menu which is only available when you order at their location.
The food is fresh, the service good and it was easy in and out. I enjoyed the Mushroom Chicken. The mushrooms were fresh and tender, large chunks of chicken and vegetables seasoned just right. Additionally, I ordered Shrimp Fried Rice and Cheese Crab Puffs. The amount of shrimp was more than most places I have ordered from, the shrimp were fresh, large and tender. The Cheese Crab puff has more cheese than crab, and was a nice addition to the meal.
I would return here to try other dishes...
Read moreWow! I've tried so many Chinese places over the years and nothing else compares to their food. If you enjoy vegan meat substitues or great sauces, keep reading.......this place has the best imitation chicken we've ever tried. It was so realistic that I considered calling them to ask if they accidentally gave us real chicken. But I think it is better tasting and healthier than real chicken.
Also they have the best sauces I've ever had. I got the veggie sweet and sour chicken and it was the perfect balance. My husband got a healthy veggie garlic chicken, which I was surprised to like that sauce and flavor just as much.
The cheese wontons were excellent. Other places we have tried put too much sugar in theirs, but these were perfect....little to no sugar I think. And the veggie egg rolls were more flavorful than most places. I miss the old style of egg rolls I got as a kid that were large and have a darker brown and more crispy shell, but no one has that anymore. Also we got the veggie chow mein and it was excellent....probably the best...

I was on the previous post that I see by Scott. The person on the phone began their conversation with a heap of attitude. They were rude, condescending and offered no help.
We carefully went over the menu. Clearly there was an error in the sending of the order through their website because we all looked.
I also agree, in addition to the attitude, the person on the phone and now in their subsequent response is just flagrantly rude. Again.
The food was all cold. Except the dish we ordered, that contained meat we did not request. The rice was white, not brown, but whatever it was hard. Not fresh.
Egg roles were greasy, and cold, the noodles were flavorless, and I agree "mushy."
They could have done so much to fix this small incident, the second time I've seen the order wrong in some way, but did not.
Starting off with a huge attitude is not good business practice.
Customer, as they say, IS...
