There was so much that went wrong with my night at The Roost, I don't even know where to begin. First of all, the crowd is great, I met some lovely people. The staff/bar policies itself though, that's another story. Out of the long list of grievances, I have only two worth mentioning in a review. Firstly, the staff kept inserting themselves into our private conversations, like way beyond a casual interlude, but aggressively TAKING OVER the conversation. Not some casual chitchat, but a PRIVATE, SERIOUS conversation! Appalling. Secondly, I am and was incredibly confused to be told I couldn't pay cash for my food but had to use my card. We decided to leave our car in the parking lot while taking a walk, only to discover that the same person who told us to return at 4 PM had called a towing company to remove our car. Read moreI went to the Roost years ago and remember it as a good, relaxed dive bar. But I went last week and, while its divey-charm is still there, the prices are way, WAY high. It was at point where I overheard several people discussing how overly priced their cocktails are. The base rate, like the price they start at, is $18. For a margarita.
