Pollos Al Carbón Doña Lola LF — Restaurant in Los Fresnos

My man literally plans specific bbq chicken days, as he calls them, just to come over here from Harlingen and feast on what he claims, is the best Mexican chicken he’s ever eaten. Not going to lie, it is really good too and worth the drive.

We usually order the combo #1 with the half chicken, half carne, sausage because we like that specific variety and it is also a lot of food. The chicken is seasoned delectably and cooked to perfection every time, the beef is deliciously seasoned as well. Every combo comes with rice, mashed potatoes, tortillas, and some of the best salsa I’ve ever had.

My favorite thing from here is the whole baked potato. I don’t know what it is about it, but it’s perfectly buttered, the cheese they use is delicious, and they load it with plentiful carne as well. It’s a whole meal by itself and it’s probably one of the hugest baked potatoes I’ve ever had and ordered from anywhere. They also do offer chips and salsa if you dine in.

Wow!!! This place doesn’t mess around!!! The chicken was straight off the grill and amazingly tender and tasty. When they handed me the bag I was surprised by the weight of it. I had just ordered a half chicken and some frijoles and the bag was way too heavy for just that. Meal came with beans, rice, mashed potatoes, grilled onions, jalapeños, tortillas and a variety of salsa. I didn’t know that and ordered extra beans which were some of the best in the area. Has a drive through be a great place to stop and get a family meal on the way to SPI. Best of all it was less than a value meal at the Mcdonald’s across the street. Had enough left for an extra meal. I ordered the #2, Included 1 whole chicken grilled whole and quartered afte, making it super juicy. Also included beef finger ribs, and OMG!! Ahhhhmazzzing!!!
