Hands down, this is the BEST brunch place in the Bay Area!! Worth the wait... every time!
My wife and I have been to this location of Los Gatos Cafe a few times. Everyone raves about this place and we know why. Here's a breakdown of what we normally order.
Copenhagen Pancakes (3 for $13) - these are unreal! They are like crepes covered in strawberries, pecans, whip cream, sour cream, and filled with strawberry or raspberry yogurt. You can get the full order (which comes with 3 I believe) for $13.00 or you can just order 1 separately. Irish Benedict ($19.00) - this might be our favorite menu item. It is a corned beef hash benedict, so the hash is on top of an English muffin with their amazing hollandaise sauce and an over easy egg on top. It is a HUGE order and comes with their house potatoes, which are pretty good as well. Crabcakes ($22.00) - this is another hidden item on the menu and is absolutely delectable. Same structure as the Irish benedict, except it is made with lump crab instead of corned beef hash. Absolutely unreal!! Walnut Raisin Bread - one of their better bakery items. We've also tried the raspberry cream cheese muffin, but the warm walnut raisin bread wins.
Those are the key items that are high on my recommendation list. I've also tried the chicken apple sausage, in an omelet, as well as benedict-style, but I recommend sticking with the options listed above in my review. We also saw the gargantuan cinnamon roll that they serve, and that is next on our to-do list.
Here are a couple other non-food considerations: although the wait can be a little long on the weekends (25-30+ minutes), it is WELL WORTH the wait! The service has always been spot on, and I don't know how they do it, but the speed at which they put together these dishes and serve it out to their customers is incredible! We are always in and out within 40 minutes of sitting down (including ordering and waiting time), so their turnover is extremely fast. So don't be turned off by the long list of parties waiting for a table.
All in all, this is easily our favorite place to go to for brunch on the weekends. And it will...
Read moreA great diner with yummy food! It was definitely worth the price for the amount of food and it was delicious! Coffee is $3 but unlimited refills as all diners should be. Both the omelette and the benedict come with herb potatoes which were delicious! We came on a Tuesday morning 9am and the diner was still pretty crowded (people waiting! since limited capacity).
Food Greek Omelette - ($15) One of the best omelettes I’ve ever had!! It comes with a thick slice of feta on top and it’s a huge omelette with many toppings inside (and more feta inside too). The combo of eggs, peppers, tomatoes, onions, and the feta is amazing. I’m not too sure why it’s called a souffle omelette on the menu, maybe because it’s taller than most regular omelettes (but the taste is pretty much the same). This item comes with herb potatoes and a bakery item! It’s a lot of food with the bakery item too, I was stuffed.
Irish Benedict - ($15) The corned beef hash is so yummy and pairs perfectly with the poached egg and english muffin.
Apple Cobbler Pound Cake - this was the pastry item I got with the greek omelette, was yummy but just a regular good pastry.
Parking We parked on the street across from the cafe, it wasn't difficult to find parking at all but we also came on a Tuesday around 9am.
Come again? Yes! If I’m in the area I would definitely come again- the prices are good and food is...
Read moreI had been meaning to try Los Gatos Cafe for a while since I love brunch and it had so many good reviews, so I figured that on a Saturday morning when my fridge was lacking in the breakfast department that giving this place a shot would be fun.
I suspected that there would be a wait, but after 45 minutes standing outside where it was kind of chilly, I started to get the grumpy hungries. I held off my hunger with their free coffee outside, but it was a little frustrating to have parties who arrived after me seated first so I went into the experience a little annoyed.
Usually when I go into a meal being slightly disgruntled it takes a whole lot for me to get past it and truly enjoy the food. I ordered the Super Benedict since I wanted to test this place in the benedict department, and oh wow, even with my bad attitude going into the meal, this place won me over 100%. Hands down the best eggs benedict I have had to date.
The one thing to keep in mind when you come here is that the food is great, but the customer service is lacking. It didn't bother me since I was extremely hungry at the time, but don't walk in expecting to be treated with a high level of attention. It's definitely an "eat and get out" kind of place, but if you know that going in, the food definitely makes it worth it.
I highly recommend trying this...
