Whitney Modern — Attraction in Los Gatos

I'm never disappointed when I make the trip to South Bay. The gallery is easy to find as it's located directly across the street from the Apple Store in downtown Los Gatos. It's upstairs on the second level, through and above another art gallery called Gallery 24 which is a local artist membership gallery. Whitney Modern's collection of art is Incredible, tasteful, and collectible with rotating shows featuring significant and very talented artists. Last time I was in, they were representing about fifteen artists but they often feature solo or group shows where one or a few artists works will occupy the entire gallery. The space is unique, open, peaceful, and beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful to answer questions about the artists without being pushy. I'd like to also give Whitney Modern credit for going beyond the standard "art gallery business model" because they often host culturally and socially important exhibits which are always wonderful and inspiring. Whitney Modern is one of the finest art galleries I've been to in awhile. First and foremost, the gallery features a lovely collection of paintings, photographs and sculptures spanning a variety of styles that are sure to satisfy the tastes of any art lover. The work is spaced out nicely and the walls are not overly crowded. Adjacent works are positioned strategically to compliment one another in ways that make you want to take home your favorite piece and also the one next to it. Suzanne (the gallery director) is the most lovely woman with a smile and personality that brightens up the room. She is not one of those pushy sales people that hovers over you as you walk around. I am so excited about this art gallery! This is the most amazing gallery I've seen in years. It's very new so they have continued to add artists and every time I go in I'm pleasantly surprised. The gallery is very modern as their name implies. Much of their work is very large in scale. The art varies from abstract to realism. Works in collage, painting, drawing...along with some sculpture, photography, and furniture.
