Delicious Mediterranean Food & Inviting Atmosphere
Albasha on Highway 190 in Covington is one of those spots that you end up craving after just one visit. It’s located in a small shopping center with plenty of parking, which is super convenient. Just keep in mind that since it’s on a busy stretch of 190, it might take a minute to get in or out depending on the traffic lights—but it’s totally worth it.
Walking inside feels like stepping into a little piece of Greece. The décor and ambiance are warm, welcoming, and beautifully done. There’s a separate bar area, regular dining, and the whole place is spotless—including the bathrooms, which is always a plus.
The staff greet you with a smile as soon as you walk in and are always very friendly and attentive. You can also get your food to-go, and the quality holds up just as well outside the restaurant.
My go-to order is the gyro or chicken shawarma plate. It comes with perfectly seasoned rice, a fresh salad, creamy tzatziki, and some of the best hummus around. The portions are generous—so much so that my family and I often split a single plate between two people. At around $21.50, it’s a great value for the amount and quality of food you get.
Albasha is one of our favorite places for a casual meal that still feels special....
Read moreI want to note that the hostess was really friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. Exactly what you'd expect from a Lebanese place. Well done dishes with good portions. It's just that the waiter was so bad it really kind of tainted the entire experience. We waited almost an hour for our food to come. He actually didn't take our order until after he'd brought out the food for another table that arrived after us. We were never able to get refills on our drinks accomplished despite asking. We requested whole wheat pitas but were brought the white ones. When he finally brought out the whole wheat ones it was a small basket amounting to about a half of a pita per person. All of this would have been more tolerable if he had seemed like a poor waiter. But he was so attentive to his other tables that it started to feel personal! We eat out a lot during our travels and tend to be pretty patient. But this was the worst service I've had in quite a while. It's the worst service I've probably ever had in the New Orleans area. I hope this place figures out what is going on...
Read moreAbsolutely awful customer service over the phone. Called to place a Togo order and went smoothly until they hung up on us right before we finished. We called back to see if the order had processed and the owner picked up. He said we had to start all over, we were frustrated but started the process.
We started ordering and he was cutting us off, asking us to order in a more systematic way, he then rudely put us on hold because he didn’t like the way we were ordering, he came back on line and was still frustrated we were ordering our meals one by one (logical to most people). We then hung up and called back again, and he was beyond sarcastic saying great you’re back, after trying to just get us to place the order online. We placed the order successfully and he rudely hung up the phone before we could get an eta on when the food would be ready.
All in all if that’s how the owner presents himself as the front of his business will never...
