I went to three Chinese buffets before finding The Golden Koi, and am so glad the others were closed. Thank you for being open, you made my Christmas a little brighter.
I should have known the meal would be exceptional by the Lambrogini parked out front. The dining area was clean, cozy and interesting. The staff was interesting and, well interested.
The food came quickly and was well presented. I got the Teriaki Beef, and was amazed after my first dumpling. It was ever so slightly crunchy, and then melted in my mouth. So good, I was a bit disappointed I ate them both so quickly, and then they were gone.
The beef was well seasoned with a thick, rich sauce. I focused on all of the vegatables first, which were not soggy and full of flavor. There was so much meat, I almost passed on the rice, but I forced myself to mix it with the leftover sauce and leave a little sleepy.
As an after note, I could really apprieciate the ginger dressing on the salad. I never had it before, and was pleasantly surprised. The salad came late, had only iceberg lettuce, and I missed a full on nutritious banquet of rabbit food, but was full and pleased enough to leave it at that.
To anyone looking for Asian Cuisine, I"d recommend skipping the cookie cutter buffets, and stopping by...
Read moreSo, I ordered a volcano roll and a spicy crawfish roll here. I ordered a pepper chicken to go. Service inside was very kind, and advise me they no longer have sushi happy hour.
+Overall, sushi was good. Volcano roll portion made sense compared to price. Food was fresh and did not indicate any old fish or product used. Very nice.
+Spicy crawfish roll was good, but keep in mind this flavor was very Chinese cooking style, and I enjoyed that. Some people may prefer Japanese oriented flavor profile more.
-Pepper chicken: Husband complained chicken had no flavor and was not spicy despite the visible peppers and flakes on the dish. He said he anticipated the mala hot associated with the Sichuan pepper chicken stir fry. I tasted the dish, and I can agree it could have used more flavor as a whole .
+Plus point for the dish being served with real, non-instant rice. I used the rice, peppers and onions to make fried rice with the chicken after my husband wouldnt eat the original dish.
I would go back and have sushi here again...
Read moreMy wife and and I went to Golden Koi for dinner last night and instantly fell in love with the sushi restaurant.
The food was excellent, service was top-notch, and the prices were more than reasonable.
I have no complaints about any part of the experience. To the contrary, every aspect of the experience was so positive, I am taking time out of my day to write a review because I feel the ownership and staff earned it.
We will most definitely be going back regularly.
In my modest opinion, the sushi at Golden Koi was better than my last several experiences at Osaka.
Golden Koy offers dine-in options, pick-up and delivery via the various food delivery apps.
My experience on Sunday, February 16 was as positive as can be expected. I definitely recommend Golden Koi to anyone who enjoys sushi and/or other Japanese and Asian style food.
Follow-Up: Back many times since, stand by the...
