Quick Review I have never been this disappointed in a dining experience in my life. I understand completely that it takes an extraordinary amount of effort and hard work to make restaurant a great experience, however, it was as if part of the Lumora servers desired to provide the opposite.
If you wish to play roulette with your dining experience, feel free to go to Lumora. If not, I personally recommend Gallagher's on Front Street in Slidell, LA - absolutely untouched in food and service. I have also had a better dining experiences at The Chimes and Zea Rotisserie & Bar in the Covington, LA area.
My Experience I will start with the food. My order, my wife's, and the rest of the table had fantastic meals. The tastes from the appetizers and main dishes were fantastic; and the portions and presentation matched expectations perfectly. The chefs and food preparers deserve their praise indeed.
Where my disappointment lies is in the service team. I noticed a few workers were new to their roles, however, the majority of them behind the bar and about the restaurant showed genuine effort and satisfactory customer service skills. Our table's servers however did not show any desire to ensure my wife and I were enjoying our time at Lumora.
The two most standout circumstances were the lack of regular drinks and an uncorrected mistake in my order. Out of the 11 people at our table, I was never provided a starter drink/water. We did have a large party, so I asked for one when the waitress came back around for our orders. Time passed, appetizers were distributed as ordered throughout the table along with alcoholic beverages, and still no water. After our food was served by the food runners, our waitress came back to our side of the table after passing over our side a couple of times. This time, my wife asked for two waters since I never received one and she shared her first one with me. Finally, once the waitress returned I received my water, and my wife, nothing for the rest of the evening. My wife and I shared two glasses of water total during the two hours we were there.
Secondly, I requested an alcoholic beverage the same time as the rest of the table did. However, after an hour had passed since ordering and everyone received their drinks and some, I asked the waitress about my drink and water simultaneously. She went to the back and came back to our table and apparently my drink was given to someone else at the other end of the table that ordered a virgin of the same drink. The waitress grabbed the drink from the other person and presented me with two options speaking across from the other side of the table: would I like to finish the already partially drank beverage or have another brought out. Figuring my new drink would more than likely receive the same treatment my requested water would have, I kept the partially consumed drink and did not touch it.
Since we were in a large group, a tip was required, as per the norm in most restaurants. Even though my wife and I felt ignored the entire time by our waitress, the tip was paid. If I had the choice, I would have divvied the tip between every other worker that did their part that night instead of our waitress. Perhaps she had a rough day, perhaps she was not warned of the reservation for the large party, maybe short-handed staff, or maybe she knew a tip was required. Regardless, as a paying customer, I should only be expected to pay for what I was provided. Excellent food by the chefs and food preparers? Yes, paid, well deserved. Gratuity for service I am not grateful for and a drink that was given to someone else without my knowledge? Absolutely not.
I requested an adjustment for said items by the establishment afterwards as to not cause a distasteful scene for the birthday we were celebrating that night and my request was denied. I will not be going back to Lumora while they promote this...
Read moreLets just start with don't waste your time or money at this restaurant. They don't have the decency to serve you well or at all.... My group and I (10 people) attended Lumora with high expectations based on what we have heard and read about the place. What we got in return was a scratch of the list for us. 4 of our friends arrived early to the restaurant about 15-20 minutes before the rest of us and were seated as we had a reservation. They were not greeted when arriving and no one make contact with them after they sat down. The total time that it took for a waitress to come to the table for the first time was over 30 minutes and we had to go track someone down. The waitress was rude and could care a less about actually taking care of us or getting our orders right. We placed drink orders and appetizer orders to start. The drinks took 30 -40 minutes to arrive to the table and we all got them at different times and we had to ask about the drinks multiple times as they acted like they forgot what we even ordered. The waitress had to go behind the bar and become a bar tender to get the drinks out t us. The drinks the ladies ordered were fine however this restaurant has no idea how to make an old fashioned. The appetizers came out before the drinks which was not that big of a deal but having a drink would have been nice. The appetizers were fine but its all cheese seafood cream related so if you don't like that then this is not the place for you as everything has this in it including the mains. We placed our order for the main dishes and to be honest its not really all that. The burgers were frozen patties and the fish was absolutely imported. You own a restaurant in one of the seafood capitals of the world and you cant get fresh seafood but you have prices as if it were fresh.....We ordered second drinks and they also took 30+ minutes to arrive to the table. One of our group members ordered a simple hamburger and they forgot to make it and wanted to give it to him after he asked about it several times and then cancelled it as everyone was already finished eating then the best part tried to charge him for something he never even got. No manager came to discuss our issues after voicing our dissatisfaction many times nor did we get a sorry for the issues at all. This was is an absolute swing and a miss. If you are looking for quality food and service DO NOT GO HERE. If you want to look cool ordering a $15 drink that comes in a bird shaped glass to impress your friends than i guess this is a good spot for you but otherwise don't waste your money. Very disappointed in this place and we will not...
Read moreMy husband and I went out for date night on 9/12/25. We arrived as 6:30pm and greeted the host. She asked if we had a reservation and we said no (we didnât mind waiting or going to the bar). After watching her panic for about 2 minutes of figuring out where to sit us, we were sat close to the front door. We probably should have left when 10 more minutes went by without being greeted by a server but we decided to stick it out. Let me pre-face this review by mentioning I am a service manager in the restaurant industry and both my husband and I have been servers as well, so of course we are more observant than others when it comes to dining experiences. We were eventually approached by our waitress whoâs opening sentence was, âSo are yâall ready to order your drinks and apps?â. At that point I should have known it was going to go downhill. We ordered cocktails and appetizers and then I asked for her name (Hannah) which she mumbled before running off. 15 minutes later she comes back and I ask her to check on our cocktails. Her response was, âSorry your drinks are backed up. Itâs the bartenderâs like second day here. The manager is back there helping himâ. Then she brings us two ADDITIONAL waters ontop of our full ones which we were obviously confused about. She then apologized and said she meant to bring them to a different table and proceeded to take them back off our table and drop them off to the correct one. Then it took another 15 minutes to get a to-go box for our appetizer so we could have room on the table for our entrees. We ordered our second cocktails at this time and then the entrees hit the table. The only negative food-wise was the truffle butter skirt steak. It tasted like it was marinated in pure A1. Donât know where the truffle butter comes into play and definitely not worth $38. The garlic truffle aoili sauce tasted like mayo with pepper and oil added to it. Hannah didnât do her check-back with us until we decided we couldnât take anymore (15+ minutes into eating) so we asked if we could cancel the cocktails, get boxes, and our check. Extremely disappointed in the service we experienced. We were wanting to order dessert but at that point we just wanted to leave. Paid over $110 and we tipped a little because weâre not ones to stiff servers, but that was pretty ridiculous. Unfortunately we will not be back and would not recommend. I hope Lumora takes this review to heart and addresses these issues as it was the only platform I could...
