If I could give them a negative rating, I absolutely would. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this place truly deserves it. To keep this short: I asked the hostess at the front door about the happy hour special. I pointed at the sign while she explained it to me, and she confirmed the drink on the sign was part of the happy hour $5 drinks. So, I ordered one.
We sat down and placed our food orders. When my food arrived, it tasted and looked like it had been sitting out for at least two hours, it wasn’t even reheated. My companion’s food was also cold, but he’s more humble than I am. He just got a to-go box while I voiced my concerns and told the staff to take my plate back. At that point, I didn’t even want anything else.
The waiter seemed irritated after that. Then some older man, who I later learned worked there or was the manager, walked around greeting every table except ours. He kept giving me strange looks, which made me uncomfortable.
When the bill came, they had removed my food, but charged me $15 for a 6 oz drink, the one I was told was $5 during happy hour. I reminded the waiter that when he came to take our order, I told him the hostess said I had five minutes left to get the happy hour special. He confirmed the drink name and said ok; yet now he claimed he didn’t know anything about it.
When I asked to speak with someone, the older man came back, and I told him which staff member gave me the happy hour info. He dismissed it and slapped a new check on the table, saying, “Here’s your ticket, and don’t come back.”
At that point, yes, I’m calling it what it is. We were the only dark-skinned people in the restaurant, and I noticed the clear difference in how we were treated. The man ignored our table, yet greeted every other guest. I didn’t even know he worked there because he was lounging at a table the whole time.
This was hands-down the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. On top of the rude service and dishonesty, the food was served cold and not up to food safety standards. They clearly need to take a ServSafe class cause food should be kept at 135°F or reheated to 165°F. Normally, at Mexican restaurants, the plates come out sizzling hot. Not here.
I don’t wish harm on anyone, but I do hope they fix their attitudes, stop lying, and stop trying to scam customers. This place is a terrible mix of bad service, poor food quality, dishonesty, and what felt like discriminatory behavior....
Read moreWorth a visit if you don't mind being greeted by a large "culture wars" related placard upon entering, and if you don't mind paying somewhat above average prices for the region. One of the reasons we dine out as a family is for diversion and the escape it provides - a welcome respite and wind-down from the stresses of the day. Upon entering Garcia's, a large, conspicuous, right in your face placard catches your attention (as intended) and proclaims the establishment to be "politically incorrect", defined as support for the police, something about saluting the flag (I think), and so on along with other things in that vein. Finally, the sign invites any prospective patron to leave if they don't agree with the proclamations. Whew! Our first 30 seconds experience at Garcia's was like watching the national news or reading a political opinion piece. This is not why we dine out. But as it were, our appetites were high and Garcia's was next up on our list of local restaurants to try. We passed the screening test (mostly), and self-scored ourselves to be worthy to hand over our cash to the establishment. We pushed on. On the plus side, seating is spacious and comfortable. Off to a good start we were as the warm table chips and cool salsa are the best we've had. Entrees were in good proportion and reasonably tasty, although the fajita meats were a bit under seasoned, we found. Our son, who is vegetarian, delighted with some of the nice options on the menu. Service was fair. While the water glasses were kept filled, the waitress didn't seem up to bringing a pitcher for my nearly empty iced tea glass, so I drank slowly. We finished our meals and were overall well satisfied. I paid with a $100 bill and was taken back a bit when asked by the waitress "Do you require change?" Had I said "no" that would have tendered a 40% tip. Unfortunately Garcia's is not above this familiar tactic used by some restaurants to maximize tips. Having sat through the entrance exam and then receiving only mediocre table service, the experience just wasn't worth a 40% boost. I still gave 20% because the forced and intrusive exposure (one naturally reads signs) to our societies culture wars was, I'm sure, not of the wait...
Read moreTable staff was friendly and helpful they deserve a 5 star but the owner earned the restaurant a 1 star Mrs. Connie ruined our family get together by asking our party of 13 to rap it up,! For our Family get together some members of our group drove over and hour to meet us at Garcia’s , we had a reservation , we thought we did everything right, well Mrs Connie one of the owners approached our table and asked us if we could please rap it up when she notice the waiter remove not all the plates just some because we still had at the other end of the table plates with food still on plates she had no idea if they had finished eating , her reason they needed the table, we had only been there for and hour and half total ! and by the way it took 45 minutes to get our food ….so no we did not over stay for a group of 13 , they did make good money from our big group . This lady Mrs Connie never apologized when she was made aware that it was wrong what she did , she tried to excuse her unprofessional behavior by saying this is a small business shame on us for getting upset at her request to leave ! she made it very uncomfortable for our group . Our get together was a night to help our father in law, this was his first wedding anniversary without my mother in law , we wanted to be together as a family and just have dinner with love ones in a nice place with food that he enjoys , sadly the evening ended with a very unpleasant event that was unprofessional, uncomfortable, unnecessary and her attitude at the end after she was approached by a family member in private was just as unprofessional as her request. Sadly after reading some reviews I see we are not the only ones that have experienced her rudeness this apparently is what she has done in the past. Thankfully Mrs Connie the 5 different household you disrespected tonight are aware of how bless this area is with tons of others restaurants that are happy to have our business for our next...
