Loft18 Metairie — Restaurant in Louisiana

Unfortunately my experience here was very disappointing. My friend made a reservation for 3 at 9:45pm and as we approached the stand we informed the hostess of our reservation. Without even looking she told us she didn’t have any reservations. My friend said his name again and she checked and confirmed that our reservation was for the time that we arrived.

As soon as we were seated we were told we had to place our order right away because the kitchen would be closing soon. We ordered wings, a quesadilla, bump n run shrimp, chicken tacos, the loft sampler and a seafood sampler. Soft drinks, and a tequila that the server never put on the ticket because they didn’t carry it. She failed to inform us of that at the time that our order was placed.

None of our food came out together and the last of everything came at 10:40. Our server was not attentive, and very forgetful. She and another server continuously walked off before any of us could finish a sentence and would only bring one person a refill and disregard the other empty cup.

I’m a pescatarian so unfortunately, I could not snack off of any of my friends plates as I waited for my food to come out. When it did arrive the fish was very bland and the shrimp was extremely salty. It tasted like they salted the shrimp then added additional salt to the batter and again after the shrimp came out. I would not recommend the seafood platter to anyone with high blood pressure or any condition that requires you to monitor your salt intake.

Great food & cool atmosphere but sketch service. CHECK YOUR BILL! It was my wife's birthday & we decided to stop in for an early dinner. They were just opening for the day & we had the entire place to ourselves. We loved the atmosphere & vibe, Sarah L was our waitress.We tried several times to make conversation with her but that went nowhere! We ordered 4 house wines during our meal & were pleasantly surprised to find out that it was happy hr so the $6 glass was now $3. When we were finished, Sarah came over & asked if we wanted to just give her a card & sign/ pay for our bill or if we wanted to view a hard copy of it. I looked at her screen & noticed she had already tipped herself 20% ($15.60). I was a little put off by this & adjusted tip & then asked about the happy hr price for the wine. Sarah assured us that it was indeed at the correct price. I signed & after she left did the math after receiving a copy of the receipt. The bill was way off (almost $20), no happy hr pricing & her behavior left us wondering,"why the hustle?". We had her fix the bill only to have her say,"I kept my tip the same, you can adjust it if you want". Still have to ask, "why the hustle?". Yeah, that tip got changed & in retrospect, Sarah's lucky I even tipped after that. Both my wife & I are in the service industry & tip more than generously when (here's the key) service deserves it! Food was great and the portions are sizeable! The games were pretty cool as well with a nice variety. However, unless you can take being bombarded with profanity as soon as 8:00pm hits, visit this place before 8. It does specify that it is 18 and up after 8, but it's still an event center not a club so I definitely didn't expect that as soon as 8 hit, they'd start playing unedited versions of songs. Literally every other word was bi$%$, h&, d!&*, etc. There were a few songs with less profanity here and there, but overall it was very vulgar music that I couldn't take hearing as soon as 8 hit so that definitely made me cut my time there short. Even if they were playing the radio version of songs, it would be more bearable, but I definitely didn't think I was signing up to go to a nightclub so I was taken aback when the dj got going. It's a nice place and I get they want a certain atmosphere after 8 apparently, but it's definitely possible to achieve playing cleaner music. I'm originally from but haven't lived here in years and I've been to tons of comparable venues in other cities that managed to achieve a similar adult vibe without the crassness of Soulja Slim talking about someone being a d&%kthrower. It's a bit much when you're not looking to club and "turn up" but just have a nice outing with friends. To achieve that here, you'd have to go in the afternoon which I was disappointed to learn.
