Very upscale and expensive place with lavish decorations and a nice attention to detail when it comes to the design and quality of tables and all of the furnishings in the place. Almost all of the food was superlative, the steak was probably one of the best I've had, all the pasta was cooked extremely well and every dish had a very unique flavor. Their Caesar salad was an interesting artistic design that had more flavor than it did anything else but it was small and I wanted more but really good.
This place is like Ruth's Chris in some ways where everything is a la carte. Entrees do not come with any sides you have to order them separately and they were nine bucks. Many of the entrees have extra toppings like crab meat or shrimp or something else that cost extra that you can add and the waitresses are definitely into upselling people on things like that. You can very easily spend a lot of money very quickly.
And then there's the drinks... Very high quality drinks but also incredibly expensive. You'll pay 30 bucks for a Sazerac here that only fills a quarter of the glass. Their wine cellar is impressive but as a bit of a wine snob I thought the wine list was okay but nothing super impressive, but this place is new and it will probably grow.
The interior is spread out but tables are everywhere and it is a little bit on the noisy side. The interior design has a reasonable amount of attention to detail but I still am not completely getting whatever the theme is of the restaurant. It's posh and slightly industrial. There's an outside section that I think people really like, and the inside is obviously a bit crowded as this place is quite trendy.
Overall most everything was good, but as I said you're going to pay a lot and it's going to attract that kind of clientele. The service was very very slow. It almost seemed like it was European style where the guests are basically expected to spend the evening there and there's only one seating but I'm pretty sure there was more than one seating. We were basically there for about two and a half hours and we needed every bit of that time to get our food and this includes not getting dessert. Things coming out of the kitchen were slow and a bit chaotic, but everything was definitely worth trying something's more so than others. Their oyster appetizer was lackluster but the meatballs made up for it. The pate on brioche was not terribly impressive except the bread upon which it was made was amazing. I look forward to this place evolving and getting even better, but I'll have to save up for...
Read moreA Truly Exquisite Italian Dining Experience! TANA has completely raised the bar for Italian cuisine in Old Metairie. From the moment we walked in, every single detail of our evening was simply flawless, creating one of the most memorable dining experiences we've had in a long time.
A huge part of what made our dinner so special was our server, Nicholas. He was the epitome of professional, attentive, and personable service. His passion for the menu was evident, and his recommendations were absolutely spot-on, guiding us through the offerings with expertise and ensuring each choice was a perfect fit. He anticipated our needs without ever being intrusive and truly elevated our meal from great to extraordinary. Service like his is a rare find and deserves the highest praise. As someone who values service and is often disappointed by the standards of most restaurants in Metairie and New Orleans, I feel Nicholas is the main reason I am changing my previous 2 star review to 5 stars.
The culinary journey began with the most incredible, fresh-baked bread that set a high standard for what was to come. The calamari was cooked to perfection, tender and light, and the addition of lump crab meat to our dishes was a touch of pure luxury—sweet, delicate, and impeccably fresh.
Now, let's talk about the Caesar salad. It is, without exaggeration, a must-try. This isn't just any Caesar salad; it's a perfectly balanced masterpiece of crisp romaine, a creamy, flavorful dressing with just the right amount of garlic and anchovy, and crunchy, house-made croutons. We will genuinely be coming back to TANA regularly just for this salad alone. It's that good.
For our main course, the house-made pasta was the star of the show. You can immediately taste the difference that fresh, in-house preparation makes. The texture was sublime, with a perfect al dente bite that held the sauce beautifully. Every component of the dish was exquisite and tasted incredibly fresh. It was authentic Italian cooking at its absolute finest.
TANA is a gem where every detail, from the impeccable service led by Nicholas to the exquisite quality of each ingredient, is carefully considered and perfectly executed. We are already planning our next visit and cannot recommend it...
Read moreMy family visited this place last night after hearing numerous rave reviews. I have to say it did not disappoint. From the moment of arrival, you become part of a truly fantastic dining experience. The valets are friendly and make parking a breeze! The decor is chic and inviting. We also loved the variety of seating they had from cozy, intimate booths to the classic dining tables with lovely comfortable chairs.
We started off with cocktails. They were well crafted and beautifully presented. The espresso martini was one of the best that I've ever tasted and the tiramisu liquor was to die for. I also tried the Blushing Belle, a special cocktail they had for Valentines weekend. It was a perfect blend of tart and sweet!
The bread for the table was paired with a pepperonata olive oil dipping and a fluffy smoked butter. The olive oil was so good, I would have bought a bottle of it! We ordered the pasta cart and were blown away with the knowledge of the chef and the experience. For an appetizer, we tried the octopus. This would not be something I typically would order, but I'm glad we did!! The octopus was so tender and the explosion of flavors in this dish made it well worth it!
For entrées, we ordered the pork chop parmesan, veal marsala, and red snapper. The presentation was beautiful and the portion sizes were more than enough, especially the pork chop with a beautiful crispy crust and light tomato sauce.
Lastly for dessert, we tried the tiramisu, bundino chocolate "cake", and the special dessert which consisted of two Gelatos encapsulated in a chocolate shell with truffle and pistachios. The desserts were sweet, but also savory and truly left us speechless! I swear that bundino chocolate cake was better than falling in love. Even with the check, we were left with an amuse Bouche chocolate truffle.
From start to finish, this was a true fine dining experience and will be a place that's added to our list of favorites. Thank you for the impeccable service and allowing us to experience a piece of Italy without the fuss...
