I couldn’t rate the food because we got up and left before we even ordered. Parking was sufficient for a Sat brunch; atmosphere was nice; Cute and quaint….Ive been to nicer and I’ve been to worse so I gave it a 4; the waitress was sweet as can be but sh le didn’t have much to work with. Two in our party wanted the chicken cutlet sandwich. The waitress informed us per the manager that they would not serve the cutlet because they were out of Arugula. We asked if we could order the cutlet with no arugula and were told NO. Yet we could get the cutlet on a salad LOL. The manager never approached the table to assist the waitress in explaining to us why this was not an option. They had bread, they had chicken but they still refused to serve a brunch menu item simply because they were out of arugula!!! The limited brunch menu left no other option for the 2 in our party wanting the chicken sandwich so we cancelled our drink order and left. Definitely not like the numerous other NOLA places that go above and beyond to accommodate guests. I would have been ok had they been out of chicken, but the fact they had it available and were willing to put in a salad but not make the sandwich that was on the menu indicated they were not aiming for an exemplary guest experience and return customers therefore we left and went for a wonderful lunch elsewhere. 5 people in our party with multiple drinks… nice bill …nice tip:) Doubt this place will survive with that management and...
Read moreStepping into Garrison is like time-traveling to a perfectly curated 90s flashback. The atmosphere is undeniably cool, with dimly lit spaces and a vibe that encourages you to relax and stay a while. What truly sets the mood, however, is the soundtrack. The constant stream of 90s hits—from grunge anthems to R&B slow jams—adds a layer of nostalgia that makes the entire dining experience feel like a party. The menu is a testament to delicious food, offering a selection of dishes that are both comforting and elevated. My shrimp toast was a fantastic start, and my main course of chicken cutlet sandwich was a perfect blend of flavors and textures. Each bite felt thoughtfully prepared, showcasing a kitchen that knows how to execute a dish flawlessly. The drinks menu is just as impressive. The bar staff clearly takes pride in their craft, and the cocktails are well-balanced and creative. My walnut fashion was a perfect balance of walnut twist on an old fashion. They also have a solid selection of wines and beers, so there's something to please every palate. Overall, Garrison is a true gem. With its delicious food, good drinks, and that unique, cool atmosphere with the 90s music, it’s the perfect spot for a night out with friends or a unique date night. I'm already planning...
Read moreI waited to try Garrison twice before posting my honest opinion. There is a high demand to get New Orleans quality restaurants with the same swanky vibes in Metairie, so I was very hopeful for Garrison. Unfortunately it’s not quite there. The design and atmosphere are on point. The food, cocktails, and prices: not so much. Portions are very small and pricey! If you’re there with a large group you would need 1 plate for every 2 people. Some of the items were great (bolognese, focaccia and whipped goat cheese) and others were underwhelming or even confusing. The cauliflower is basically dipped in a bowl of paprika. You can get much better roasted cauliflower elsewhere. Both beef entrees were very small and not worth it. The snapper or red fish is cut into a tiny square filet. I’ve never been to a restaurant where you don’t at least get the full size of the fish filet for snapper/red fish.
Cocktails: underwhelming. Too many fabulous bars in Nola to compare too and they’re not even close.
Service: server was very attentive during my first experience. Second time we sat at the bar and it was not the same. The bartender had no interest in being there or serving for that matter.
Overall, I’ll have to keep...
