Ming's Akari — Restaurant in Louisiana

Tonight was my second time here with my husband, and both times were exceptional. The atmosphere is very inviting, the food is insanely good, and the prices are very reasonable. Between my husband and I, we've had the crab Rangoon (with sweet chili dipping sauce that is perfect on just about everything), snow crab salad (my husband's favorite), crunchy roll, spicy tuna roll, yellow fin and scallion roll, and the tempura shrimp bento box. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious.

But as wonderful as all of that is, the best part is the fast, friendly, and knowledgeable wait staff! Unfortunately, I didn't get our waiter's name on the first visit, but he was an absolute gem. And tonight, we had Miss Ima, who I can't possibly speak highly enough about. Even if the food was half as good as it is, the people would have me coming back.

All in all, I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. I will definitely be back, and I'll be bringing my sushi loving...

Firstly, our server was great! As for the food, great crab Rangoons. And that's where it ends. Miso soup was lightly flavored water. We ordered a couple rolls, one with soft shell crab and another with spicy tuna. The spicy tuna was decent, soft shell crab was not. The crab in the roll had gone sour. The tempura had absolutely no seasoning. (We also ordered tempura shrimp and veggies.) Not even salt, none on the table either, I didn't bother asking. If they don't salt their batter or offer it at table, I assume the restaurant is void of salt. The restaurant itself is dated, fine, but it's also not clean. Strange smell, dirty floors, dust everywhere. I realize we're on a small town, but some pride in your restaurant and some semblance of following heath code...

I tried this place and it good for the money. The menu has a lot to pick form. The steak hibachi was excellent not dry and flavorful. There yum yum sauce, salad w/ house dressing, and soup were great. But, there sushi was no that good it was plain, and it seemed that the avocado in the sushi I ordered was mushy. The fried cheese cake was not up to par, one side (thin) was milky and other side (thick) was still cold almost frozen. Other then sushi and dessert it was good. Service and environment was really great though. I would give this place some time for just opening the restaurant to see if they can get there sushi up to par, if so I will...
