I would not be able to rate the food as the OWNER was so RUDE we left before we were seated. I made reservations for 7 this weekend. I had two people back out at last minute so our party of 7 became a party of 5. I explained that to the lady that greeted us at the door. As soon as I told her our number of guests changed, her attitude changed. She told me that I should have called and let them know, that every seat counts. While I understand that, I was not informed of our other 2 guests joining us until very late in the evening. Also, when you enter the restaurant, there is no waiting area. You walk in and you are practically on top of other guests seated at their tables. My husband had his back to the door when we entered. Another lady came in behind us but walked to a table. The door was left open. The OWNER proceeds to tell my husband to shut the door it is hot outside. Again, she was not very nice about it. Since there is very little room to move around, he shut the door, but with his back facing the door. The door did shut loudly, but the OWNER, yelled at him and told him that he did not have to slam the door. It was not his intention to slam the door. At this point my husband was ready to go. I had asked to wait and give it another try, which we did. My husband told our daughter in her ear that he will never come back to this restaurant again. He did not yell it for the entire restaurant to hear, but the OWNER did. She then proceeded to yell at him again. She yelled, what did you just mumble! He told her he was not talking to her, he was talking to his daughter. At that point, I had enough of the OWNERS rudeness. I told my family that we should leave, which we did. I told the OWNER I thought it was best we go. She continued to follow us as we were leaving. The best advice I would give the OWNER is to hire someone to run the front of the house. She does not have the right personality to deal with customers. I have never been treated like this at any restaurant EVER! Especially...
Read moreI wish that I had never walked into this place. Being a chef myself, I love supporting family owned establishments. I read the reviews and I thought that I would love this place, but nothing could be further from the truth. The place is falling apart for starters, and my guest shared her concerns, but the owner's wife was welcoming, so I said, "Lets' give this place a chance," so we stayed. Nothing went right from this point forward: Items listed on the menu were not available, the wait staff were inattentive (I had to clear my own table twice), odd ingredient choices by the chef/owner, who, by the way, was seldom in the kitchen, but was constantly working the room. All of their tomato sauce is sweet - not just a little, but like candy. Their response was that this is the Sicilian way of preparing tomato sauce. It was too sweet and detracted from the food's flavor. I do not know a single Italian that would agree with their recipe. The waitress took her time to check on us and by the time she did, we had eaten some of the dish, because we were tired and hungry and just wanted to get out of there. I discussed my concern of the sauce with the waitress and she got the owner's wife, who had greeted us earlier. I will spare you the detail, but it got really ugly fast. They kept insisting that we stay and that they would give us desserts. I said that I didn't want a dessert, that I just wanted to leave. We felt like prisoners. Finally, they brought me the bill after much back-and-forth. I paid my bill and left with my guest. The chef/owner followed me out of the restaurant while yelling at me and telling me that I was a horrible person. Although I felt charitable to this family, they were very rude and in my opinion, have no business running a restaurant. All they want is your money. The food was as poor as the service and I truly have never been treated so poorly in my 50 years of restaurant dining. Gordon Ramsey... Please take notice of this place. They...
Read moreVery Disappointing Before the pandemic, we came to this restaurant every time we came to town. Last night we were delighted to go again to this old favorite. The place hadn't changed in appearance, but the service and food were a big letdown. We ordered a large Oyster Oreganate appetizer and the dish was warm on the surface and refrigerator cold in the middle. Our entrees were veal picatta and that night's special Trout Almandine. I like capers but the veal picatta was completely overwhelmed with them. It was all you could taste. I ended up separating capers off to the side and the result was an entire 2 oz bottle's worth on the plate. We expected the trout, a delicate fish, to be sauteed. Instead, it was deep fried and overcooked. Our waiter was slow and indifferent. When I told him about the problems with the dishes, he just walked away without a word . At the end, he cleared the dishes and left us with water glasses, waiting while he settled the neighboring tables split bill and doggy bag. (The waiters only other table). 15 minutes later we finally got our credit card to sign. The restaurant was overly air conditioned cold and when sitting at the padded bench for the table you sink into the seat until your knees are just hanging on a rail. I had to switch to a hard chair. We will no longer return to this restaurant. Hopefully, they will return to their...
