The only reason that I'm giving 2 stars instead of one is because the Crawfish were still pretty good. I lived in New Orleans for 26 years and ate here very often during that time. In 2005 I moved to Nashville and upon coming back quite a few times I have eaten here and had the same server (Lynn or however it's spelled) every time and had a bad experience everytime. The third and final time which was only a few days ago she started out by saying she could not guarantee hot crawfish that I needed to order what I was going to eat during my entire sitting because she would not be coming by our table for quite a while. Now that goes completely against server etiquette and that would get someone fired anywhere else. Secondly when I had to chase her down to get more crawfish she got very short with me and had an attitude. I also mentioned that she had forgotten to bring the red beans and rice for my fiance who had been waiting through our entire eating of our 3 lbs of crawfish between my sister and I and she claimed that it was taking a while because it was a fresh batch. When my fiance tasted the red beans they were cold and offered me to try some and it definitely did not taste fresh to me plus it was cold so apparently she just forgot and would have not forgotten had she actually came back by our table again within the hour. I did however notice that she was giving extra attention to what appeared to be regulars but yet didn't even look towards our table one time as we sat there out of drinks and out of crawfish for at least 20 minutes. Last at the very beginning of our meal I ordered a root beer which I never received and after the first and second time I had to go up and ask for napkins since we never had any to begin with and my second order of crawfish her demeanor and attitude caused me to not ask for anything else. I've noticed that everyone else is complaining about this same older light haired lady in other negative reviews. Why has this server been able to continue giving some of the worst service I have ever received and is not improving? I will be calling to discuss this situation as it was really that bad and noticing that there are no responses to these reviews so it will probably never be seen by management. Very disappointing to come back to my old stomping grounds and was one of my favorite places to eat years ago and see the service go...
Read moreI meant to change my review, but fell asleep. The crawfish was nasty when I first got it, but after it set for a few hours, the flavor set in, it was very good. The crawfish I mean. The right amount of spice, and seasoning. Not over spiced like Rouse's seafood, and a few others, who look like they are trying to burn a hole in your throat and stomach. I'm sorry to Sal's for the first review. It also was almost six pounds, I weighed it at Rouse's. So when I'm wrong, I change it. I would eat there again, rarely though. Why you ask? For the same reason I gave 4 stars. They are high as heck! Lol... If you have the money go there and enjoy. I saw another bad review about the crawfish, so i recommend letting the crawfish set for a 2 to 3 hours for the full flavor effect. When you first get it, it might not taste good at first, but after sitting umm umm. Btw My mom used to buy shrimp, crabs, and crawfish from there when I was a kid. Was delicious, still delicious. Make smaller copies of stuff and lower the price for us less rich folks and you get...
Read moreWestbank if New Orleans in Harvey, old school decor, metal building, boil and fry shack out back, big to go business, serves all the favorites, menu written on chalk board, crabs, boiled crawfish, red beans, thin cut fried catfish & shrimp, fries with tony's seasoning, gumbo loaded with chicken. Hard pass on the Jambalaya unless you like just a side of rice cooked with tomato. Cold Barq's Rootbeer in a bottle. Affordable, especially of you buy big quantity of fried fish. Food was tasty and seasoned. Personally, Fish could be more crisp, crawfish could be spicier, sides like corn and potatoes were not included in the price. Had to chase down a plastic silverware 5 minutes after served the gumbo. Got a spoon. Never saw a fork or knife. Staff hangs in back of kitchen or outside. Boiled crawfish places usually offer condiments. None here. But, those are the quirks of small town, old school restaurants like Sals. I would eat here again now that I know the drill. You...
