I have very mixed feelings about placing this review. I wanted to give a lower star rating to display the disappointment, but it’s not the “worst” so 3 stars.
I want this review to highlight the management’s recent choice to remove all self checkouts from the Marrero location.
I understand that self checkouts can be hard to monitor for theft, but they also present many benefits.
For me, my lunch period is limited, so I like to get in and out of a store as quickly as I can. I don’t want to spend my lunch break in a store waiting in line. That lunch break is MY time and I highly value my time.
On many weekdays, my lunch would consist of stopping by Aldi, grabbing some fresh fruit, a frozen meal (or two), some snacks, and maybe a drink.
Aldi was a prime option for me, because I knew where all the items I want are located and I could get in and out within less than 5 minutes.
Not today. Or last week… or ever again in the foreseeable future.
Today, I went in to get my items. I had all of them in less than 2 minutes (I timed it) and I was ready to leave.
I walked up to the empty front, where there were two empty registers that displayed as being open. I stood. I waited. No one.
Finally after about 2 minutes, a cashier made their way up to the front to check me out. Aldi is no longer my streamlined option. I will be redirecting my business to the newly opened Trader Joe’s in mid-city.
Aldi claims that they removed the self checkouts due to theft…. Let put it kindly - maybe the self checkouts weren’t the issue.
If it took two minutes to get an employee up to the front of the store to check me out, maybe THAT is why people were stealing. The employees are never present. MAYBE if Aldi had employees that were attentive and present, then people wouldn’t have even bothered stealing from the self checkouts.
Maybe the problem is...
Read moreBack in October 2024I was excited to visit this store. The place was empty yet somehow dirty. I didn't go back until recently in the past week. I went in because something caught my eye on a Facebook group.
This was not the same store I visited 6 months ago. This store was cleaner, brighter and stocked! They had everything I needed and things I didn't know I needed. I am hoping it was just a time of day thing the first time. But well done Aldi in Marrero for the glow up. Everyone talks about how there is no staff. I was lucky I guess or went on a good day as there were several. I didnt have to interact with many but when I got up to the register and was greeted by Kayla. Her sweet and jovial demenor made my day. She talked to me like she knew me all her life. Oh my was she fast too! I am hoping that this is a new chapter for aldi here. If this keeps up I know this place will be a huge success. Aldi, keep up the great work. You should be very proud...
Read moreMost prices are good, everything is fine, but the only thing is you have to run around the store looking for someone to tend to the cash registers. That alone is frustrating and it's been like that since they first opened. I was hoping that would change as they got established, but it's becoming a problem. So hopefully they hire cashier's to tend just the cash register. The cashier's are doing multiple jobs, stocking, cleaning, and barely cashiering. Other than that...
