Sticks BBQ - Hwy 59 — Restaurant in Louisiana

Love this place. Family feel that most restaurants lost years ago. The chicken is great and the sausage is so good. I'm not a Mac & Cheese person, but it is something we order every single time (and I eat it too!!!). So good!

The owners are great people. They take the time to visit with customers and are super approachable. My family and I walked in once right before they closed and they had just finished a very busy dinner shift and were about to go home. I told them no big deal and that my family and I would come back later. Before we could turn around to leave, they had menus on the table along with waters and silver. The hospitality they showed us was phenomenal. I didn't want to say anything about my sprite, but it tasted like the syrup had run out. Not surprising since they were so busy. I decided I would say something and when I did, they changed out the drink machine immmediately, brought me a fresh drink and when it was bill time, they didn't charge me for my drink! It was amazing.

Small BBQ restaurant in strip shopping center. Few parking spots but easy access. Handicap parking spot close to door. Faux wood and sheetrock interior with the prerequisite beer signs and hanging bulb lightbulb on wire. I prefer chicken over ribs and chose the half chicken. It comes dry with a smoked flavor. Two sauces, one sweet and one vinegery. I tried both(I prefer sweet). Sweat sauce good but I am the wrong person to judge the vinegery sauce. Portions are generous. My side(you get two) choices were collard greens and Cole slaw. The collards were recommended. I don't recommend them. The Cole slaw was pretty good-sweet with a touch of vinegar. Unsweet Tea was clear and good. Wait staff polite, attentive and ready to help. No wait time. Only 11 tables and there were no more than six customers while I was there. Food came out quickly and at the appropriate temperature. I don't know if I will be back, but would not pass on it if friends wanted...

Just left this restaurant. Was really looking forward to it. I won't be back unless someone drags me there. Waitress was alone and overwhelmed. She did the best she could taking care of everyone. Tables were not bussed, food on floor mat at front door beyond disgusting. Owner showed up dressed in dirty sweat pants, filthy t shirt flip flops and bare feet. Again beyond disgusting. Pork was dry, overlooked and gristly. Saved by the BBQ sauce. Owner had two children one about ten and the other about 6. Started ordering them to take orders and refill drink glasses. Sadly, they were better dressed and cleaner than the owner, however, neither washed their hands before handling silverware and drink glasses. As owner bussed tables none were sprayed and wiped nor the chairs and used napkins were under the table along with food. Found myself wishing I worked for the board of health.
