Went to The Little Villiage last night to enjoy a nice date night with the misses. We try to go somewhere really nice every couple months or so. Approaching this restaurant and walking inside, it is very pleasant and calm. It's really dark and mellow and personally, I like that. For an appetizer, we had their bread on the menu with a roasted garlic. There's nothing super special about it, just a really good bread appetizer with Parmesan and olive oil. The roasted garlic was extra, but I didn't mind considering it was a whole garlic that was roasted. The specials last night was an Oscar Filet (9oz) and a lemon butter seared Chilean Sea Bass. I have a soft spot in my heart for Chilean Sea Bass and it did not disappoint the slightest. It was cooked to a perfect. Stabbing your fork into the Bass was enough to cause it to fall apart and it was amazing. The Oscar Filet was just as good, just on the red beef side. Extremely tender and delicious. It was truly an amazing dish. Now here's the downfall of the restaurant: the wait. Our server was very kind and respectful and I felt she did a wonderful job as attending us. No complaints at all on her end. But the wait we had for all of our food was absolutely ridiculous. 2 people who ordered everything they wanted, including a to-go order of Chicken Alfredo, took right over two hours. Now if we were very indecisive and took breaks for drinks and all, I'd understand, but in the first 10 minutes of sitting down we had placed our entire order. We waited and additional 45 minutes just on the to-go order after we had finished our main course. It was terribly frustrating. I ate the Chicken Alfredo the next day and I'll say it's on par at best. The noodles were cooked right, and the chicken was done very well. Cooked properly and seasoned very generously, but the Alfredo sauce was like water, and did not taste much different than a basic canned Alfredo. Anytime a noodle would fall off the fork and hit the Alfredo it would splash into all directions due to the consistency of the Alfredo. Then the flavor of the sauce was such a let down. All-in-all, the place wasn't terrible. It had some really good upsides that I loved, and had some really terrible downsides that really drive. I can't say it was bad enough to not go back because I do believe in giving restaurants more than one shot(most of the time), but if we eat their food again. It'll probably be curbside pickup or along...
Read moreThe food is terrible. I came with my sister and mother after a show in Baton Rouge. The waitress had friends eating there in the table right behind us and spent more time talking to them then serving. There was a manager standing with her doing the same thing 4/10/22 5pm). I finally had to say 10-15 mins later, "hello, can we get our drinks and did you put our bread order in??!" Obviously she had not sense we watched her move from our table to the next. Another server brought out our $11 loaf of bread. We didn't buy any "add on's" because at $11 it should stand alone. It was dry and underwhelming. If you have ever been to Walmart and bought the $1 Italian loaf you have had better. Our mixed drinks were ok. Our appetizers were terrible. I ordered seafood stuffed mushrooms and the shrimp were so old/hard I could not penetrate it with a fork. I asked our waitress and she could not either. She suggested it was the mushroom. I sent mine back and thankfully they took it off the bill. My sister ordered the fried green tomatoes with crab in sauce on top. She said it was disgusting, no flavor and the tomatoes were bad. My mom (who really wanted to eat here said the fried calamari was good). Next round was salad. I ordered a house salad with Italian dressing. I got lettuce with Cesar dressing. I asked the waitress what it was and she said, "that's the house salad and the dressing should be Italian." No other veg was given but lettuce and it WAS cesar dressing. At this time I thought best not to complain because I didn't want my food "played with". I ordered the cheapest meal on the menu I could find and hopefully they wouldn't mess up. I ordered the lasagna and I could only take a bite. The meat was unknown, soft and unflavored like I would imagine dog or cat pate. My sisters experience was the same. My mom insisted on bringing the bread and some leftovers home which we never will eat to be polite. My mom worked in downtown Baton Rouge and went to the other location. She swore this was the best Italian food in the are. All 3 of us were disappointed and almost $200 later with tip, we will...
Read moreWhere to begin well first of all me and my wife arrive and weâre not even greeted on on the waiters looked at and mumbled something then left. A waitress then came up to us and sat us. Our waiter was so high that his words were slurred. The bread which is 7 bucks for a half loaf was absolutely bland they expect you buy all these add-ons I donât under stand why. The bread is just dry loaf of homemade bread with a ton of Parmesan powder pile on top with a puddle of oil on the bottom. We ordered toasted ravioli which was just average. My wife ordered fettuccine Alfredo no meat just the pasta I order the chicken marsala. They both came with a house salad which is literally lettuce nothing else no croutons, no other veggie besides olives and if you ask for it with olives you better because they empty a half a can of sliced olives on top making everything inedible. The fettuccine arrived and the plate was huge but it was just to fool you from a meager portion which is ok when it is only going to waste. I asked my wife if she thought the seasoning was An add on as well like the the stuff for the bread since it was tasteless to say it was bland would be to assume that it was lightly seasoned. It was not! The chicken Marsala tasted like chicken teriyaki with too much teriyaki sauce. Seriously disgusting. The waiter came back and asked if we wanted desserts we immediately said no thank you. He kept insisting we drink he kept asking if I wanted wine or a cocktail. Then finished off he rant about us needing a drink with â Iâm sure you want some tequila right?!?â As a Hispanic man I didnât know how to take that. Then as he fiddled with attempting to open the plastic bag (so we could bring the leftovers to our dog,) for what seemed like 3 mins before I said I got the bag donât worry just charge my card please. Then he came by and asked if we maybe wanted a desert to go? We kindly smiled and no thank you. Honestly please stay away from this place it is unapologetically disgusting oh and 75 bucks later we left and had dinner...
