I love Salad Station! It's basically a big salad bar with so many ingredients you can pretty much make any salad you like. They even have hot taco meat, chicken and shrimp to toss in. You pay by the ounce, and I always get carried away and go over a pound. It's not too expensive, so no big deal. There's also a small hot bar with baked potatoes and fixings, a meat (usually chicken) and some veggies, and there are a couple of soups too. Haven't tried these because we're doing Keto, but it looks good.
There's usually an employee or two behind the counter/salad bar, keeping an eye on things and replenishing the ingredients.
There are gloves you can use while assembly your salad, but they're the most ridiculous things ever! They're so HUGE they slide right off--I can never get mine to stay on for the whole trip down the bar. If they had better-fitting gloves, I think more people would use them.
There's a big assortment of dressings, including salsa and Sriracha if you made yourself a taco salad and like things spicy, but sadly no Remoulade sauce . . . which would be nice to go with the shrimp. =) They also have cheese crisps, which stand in for croutons if you're doing low carb.
Anyway, yes, I love this place and we've been coming here once a week as a treat! Odd to say salad is a treat, but it...
Read moreWow! What a great salad!! We have been looking for a place like this since we moved from Albuquerque. We had a place called Souper Salad that we loved going to. We thought we'd never find a place like that again. I think we just did! We were greeted by the staff when we walked in the door since it was our first time here we were explained how it worked you build your salad first they weigh it at the end and they charge at this time $9 a pound. Fully a fair price for a salad you'd pay at least that much anywhere else. Staff was all friendly and cheerful and the place was just as clean as we could expect it to be. All the food was fresh on the salad bar and there were plenty of choices. And a big plus for us they have Coke products! And a bigger Plus for me, they have Coke Zero on the soda fountain. That's something you don't find in most places anymore. Our meal was right at $33 for our two large salads and two drinks, and again like I said that's a fair price in my book. We didn't even get a chance to try the soup selections, that'll have to be on our next visit I guess. So if you're in the Metairie area and you're looking for a good salad bar to go to I highly...
Read moreI really like the concept of this place but I feel that it was not well executed. It has a very nice array of things to put on salads that you can pick yourself but I just find that everything tastes like it came out of a bag from Sysco, including all of the dressings. It just seems to me if you're going to do something like this there should be some kind of distinctive thing about it it can't just be the sum of its parts. Make your salad dressings really good or unique or make your ingredients very fresh but I feel like this place is failed in both categories. Even the so-called proprietary drinks that they offer are really uninspiring and taste watered down, just like the dressings and everything else. Overall I'm disappointed more than anything else because I think there's a tremendous amount of potential here but the quality is below average. Places like cava and Chipotle have a similar kind of a la carte menu but they put a lot more attention into the individuality of their ingredients and how they all taste uniquely different and good. This place just feels like every salad bar ever, phoned it in. and for the prices they're charging I just don't think it...
