I was so excited to finally try a brand new Thai place other than Cafe Equator here in Metairie. I am a huge fan of Thai food. I really know my Thai food. It is one of my favorite cuisines that I love to indulge in. I normally go to Cafe Equator because there has not been any other Thai place to order from so when I heard that Tuk Tuk Thai had opened, I couldn’t wait to try it out. This was my first time ordering from there. I was really hungry and looking forward to eating my food. I ordered the papaya salad, the tum yum soup, and the eggplant with shrimp. I specifically specified that I cannot handle too spicy so to please avoid it or give me the lowest level on the papaya salad. They told me the food would take 25 minutes. I get there. The food was STILL not ready. Then when I get it. They gave me the wrong soup! Then I had to wait an additional 20 minutes to get my tum yum soup. Finally got my food. Never got am sorry or any type of apology for making me wait almost an hour for my food. Totally unacceptable. Once I get home, I am starving and so ready to see if all that time and the long drive, was worth it….well let me tell you IT WAS NOT! The eggplant was super sweet way too sweet! I have never tasted an eggplant dish so sweet like this before that I couldn’t not eat it. Then I try the papaya salad. That salad was so spicy, I could not eat it. It also had a fishy taste and smell to it. It didn’t have that balance that a papaya salad it’s supposed to have! Totally disgusting! I had to throw away the shrimp with eggplant dish along with the papaya salad. I was so mad! I tried the tum yum soup. It was decent. But, I think I will stick with what I know. Just a horrible experience and a total waste of my $43!!! They give you smaller portions and...

Read moreBack to try the NTTT Street Food! While not found among the Street Food, we began with Roti a Thai stylized flatbread. This flatbread is soft, rich with butter, with a slight char which is complemented by the slightly sweet, yet pleasingly spicy Panang Curry dipping sauce.
As for my venture into Thai Street Food, I turned myself over to our engaging and knowledgeable hostess to be happily presented with Pad Krapow! Do not be put off by the fried egg nested upon pork (protein of your choice) green beans, red bell peppers, with garlic and chili peppers, and a wonderful basil sauce. The egg yoke magically melds into the dish bringing a rich and soothing mouthfeel. This dish lets you know Thai spices are present, even only being rated 🌶️ 🌶️. Not to avoid, but keep in mind jalapeño’s are also in the dish. A must try and sure to have again.
My partner in culinary crime, Diana, ventured into Street Food with the Duck Delight. Interestedly and flavorfully the duck is minced, seasoned, and seemingly pressed into cubes which are fried. This provides a texture which surrounds the moist seasoned duck. This is plated on-top of medley of fresh vegetables with shrimp in a piquant yet sweet sauce.
We dashed in around 5:30PM and found plenty of seating which shortly began to fill with along with a busy take out base. Be sure to check out Nola...
