We are from out of town and saw good reviews. When we got there, we were second in line. After the people in front of us got their order, everyone inside disappeared for about 10-15 minutes. I believe the manager opened the window and said it would be just a couple minutes. We stood there for another 10 minutes with no one but him in sight. He didn’t even bother to attempt to take any orders. We finally got our order taken as many other people came and stood in line. Everyone after us got their order and we were the last ones to get our order after we were the first ones to order. We had only ordered a caramel sundae and a flurry. I heard they were under new management and it seems like they need to work on managing their people. They all were just standing around after we ordered and didn’t even attempt to start our order. Never will we go there again if we are ever in the area.
*To the comment from Avery - I am part of the working class and have had many years in customer service from the age of 16 to now 60. I am a very patient person and did not have an attitude. We were waiting in the breezy cold of the day for over 20 minutes. I believe that is just a tad bit too long to wait for someone to even take your order when there were 5 people and a manager in there somewhere. Especially when the Manager was the only one we saw after the people in front of us left. He should’ve stepped up and helped out. That’s what a true manager does, not apologize for 10-15 minutes that he was sorry for taking so long. I get it things happen and your working with high school girls and it will take a little longer. There were at least 5 girls there and not one was seen after the couple in front of us left. But is poor management on their part. I was not saying anything about the girls themselves, because the girls were nice but just needed guidance as to what order came through first. I never hardly ever complain because I have been there as a high school student working with the public. It may turn out to be a better place, but what I saw yesterday it wasn’t...
Read moreDairy Kastle has changed this year, as we all know. I could give out a litany of issues that have formed from changing things operationally but I will keep it brief.
2 stars(it saddens me to give this) saved by the vanilla still being excellent.
This is an account of this year's visits: -Prices have increased by a decent amount. No longer a cheap ice cream option for the city. -Cash only payment is gone, thus they have credit card fees baked in. -A new ordering system that is painfully slow. Excruciating to listen to the staff scream out order #'s because it takes so long to make the order now. Thus causing customers to pile up or just walk away/give up. Also not adaptable to the topping asks of old. -Watching everyone else's orders, the ice cream is really sloppily made.
Line took 40 mins to order, it was not a big line... The chocolate flavored ice cream was weird and chemically tasting :( It never tasted like that before.
The Line this time took 1 hour and 15 mins. A fairly normal line that the old DK would crush with its speed. Thank goodness the chocolate tasted normal this time.
Chocolate ice cream was back to tasting off and chemically. Now only go late in the afternoon on weekdays, cause it's not worth waiting any amount of time for.
Normal dairy kastle ice cream tasting, a minor miracle. They've installed games in the parking lot, so as to distract the mob from growing restless whilst in "The Line".
Ordered 1 small cone and 1 medium cone. The same order we always get. The medium cone was the exact same size as the small. I asked the staff, with receipt, right after they handed the cone to me and they replied that it is a medium... .. . ...so I'm out.
-Thanks for all the previous years of glorious ice...
Read moreSince the new owners took over last summer this spot has gone down hill. I have tried a couple times in the past two years, the service was poor unsatisfactory and slow. The conditions are not as pristine and the servers barely greet you with a smile. The double lines definitely create mass confusion between the line for ordering and window for pick up. Now you’re given an order receipt and you wait separately-just hoping your milkshake will have the right consistency this time. Welp it is watery again but you can’t blame a girl for wishing! I’ve been a regular customer for as far back as I can remember. My father took me for day outings as I did the same with my kids who are now young adults. I use to call it literally our favorite place on earth. As a family we visited at least 2-3 times weekly during the summers. The magic of this place is gone. There’s not much left but shorter lines, tattered left receipts on the parking lot ground, and a few watery milk shakes...
