The restaurant appears to do a brisk business and I am happy for them and their satisfied customers. I, however, keep trying to have a positive experience there but I have yet to do so. Either service, quality of food, mixed-up order or cleanliness leaves me with spacing years in between my visits. Tonight, I decided to try again. I got home with an order other than what I had placed. I did enjoy their biscuit which was flaky and tasty and not too hard. Yet, while I typically don't like to make negative reviews, it seems my experiences are consistently less than desirable. Each visit I have experienced an insect issue inside with flies; while I can appreciate this is an issue with opening and closing of doors it seems other restaurants operate without having flies all over the place. Aren't there products that can zap these insects or better control them? I apologize if I'm being persnickety, I don't like the idea of flies all over the place maybe landing on my food back in the kitchen. I'm delighted there are customers who have pleasant experiences there and maybe my experiences are anomalous to what the clear majority experience. As mentioned earlier, as I drive by the restaurant daily they seem to do a brisk business. So, on that fact alone, I suspect they are worth a try if you are wondering and have not previously experienced Lee's Famous...
Read moreI had a hankering for chicken liver, which I know is not a very popular cuisine options and that ultimately means not many places serve them. I knew that Lee’s Famous Recipe did and though I’ve had theirs before and they were just ok… I reluctantly thought I’d try again. Spoiler alert- they are still just ok. The batter that they use is extremely salty and they’re fried so you don’t need the extra salt. I bought a regular order of livers a regular order of gizzards and a dunker meal. The portion of a regular for $4.99 is very small. The texture was good but the taste is just so so for both and the light batter doesn’t lead one to believe that they are cooked well. The fingers looked under cooked as well. So all in all I did get what I ordered. I was greeted immediately when I walked in and my order was taken quickly and given to me quickly. The value for the price… it’s on the high side. The taste is nothing to write home about. The atmosphere is wonky. It’s an older bldg so they have seating but it’s in the back and odd to get to. I have to give it a 3/10 bc it was barely mediocre. I have however learned my lesson. The employees are nice and good is severed to you quickly but if the taste is just ok it’s not really worth it. Other menu items may be great but I won’t be going back. Best of...
Read moreWhy would a 230 lb. 55 year old man have an emotional moment in a fast food place? I went on solo trip weeks ago to immerse myself in all things bourbon. In the early 90's we had a Lee's franchise in Tulsa, OK. We (celebrated our 26th anniversary this year.) were young & still working our way thru college. Lee's was delicious & always a lunch special or meal deal made it an affordable favorite. In the mid 90's it closed & I haven't had Lee's in over 25 years. I shared with a man in line my story & everyone heard. So between the patrons & staff I was guided thru the process. As I took my 1st bites I was transported back in time to those exact flavors, seasonings, textures I recalled from so long ago. I was having that "moment" when a patron from earlier checked on me. She asked if I was OK after I turned to answer. I said "ma'am everything is exactly, exactly as I remembered it. Flavors, seasoning, breading, texture, all of it. (Thank you Lee's Bardstown, Ky. like more than a delicious meal, just like I remembered. Thank you for a trip down...
