We came here for dinner on a Saturday night. Noticing that we had a toddler and an infant with us, the waitress attempted to warn us that the wait would be long. We misunderstood, thinking she was referring to the wait to be seated (which was very brief). They were clearly understaffed, and the place was busy: we waited for over an hour. The staff was so kind to us and even brought out a couple extra sides with our food and a little yogurt drink for our 3 year old, a very sweet gesture. The manager even went so far as to offer to hold our baby so I could sit and eat.
All that being said, the wait was worth it! The food was delicious and fresh, and there was plenty of it. We honestly wish we had taken the cue about the wait, and we felt bad later after realizing that they had tried to warn us and were worrying about our kids potentially getting rowdy (which thankfully didn't happen). On the other hand, we're so glad to have visited this restaurant and will surely be back!
The bottom line is that this is a great place to eat with a staff that cares about their...
Read moreSo we went for the lunch special, only to find it unusually unspecial. The place was mildly crowded but we were quickly seated. The host was helpful but unseen after our food was served. No refills until it was time for the check. The banchan was limited to 4 dishes (no kimchi?!?!) and had a strange sour taste.Very few people want or ask for the cold potato bamchan, but tada, we got it. The meal was equally matched to the sourness. Bulgogi should be sweet and salty, not mildly sour. No one asked us how everything was or if we needed anything. Our experience differed from other customers (many of whom were Korean) as the waitstaff fawned over them while ignoring my table. I could excuse the staff due to being busy, but it is hard to ignore the flavor of the food. Go to Koreana or Aririrang (if they are ever open) for a better dining experience. Still, I would recommend Lee's to those who want to try Korean food and don't yet know what good Korean...
Read moreThe kimchi here does not taste homemade at all, the side dishes all tasted like they were plopped out of a commercially sold jar or can. It was very upsetting as we were recommended this place to get our Korean cuisine cravings fixed; unfortunately it did not meet our expectations at all. ): the Jajangmyeon tasted too salty and we couldn’t taste the beans in the black bean paste, while the kimchi soup we got was very diluted and not flavourful. It was a very lacklustre experience. On the bright side, the servers (lady and her son?) were both quite friendly and the elderly lady was busy and thoroughly cleaning the tables after the exit of each patron. The place was clean, hygienic and has a welcoming ambience. However, we would highly recommend the Korean cuisine offered at Kum’s Cafe (on Poplar level Rd)...
