I've eaten At Yummy Pollo and the chicken is by far the very-best in Louisville, But the sides really need to use more work, I am a Peruvian and I've lived in Miami and the chicken there is great and the sides are consistent. I cant say that about the sides at Yummy Pollo, one day the garbanzo beans are terrific the next day they are dry and hard, the rice is never the same, too much cilantro,(it's almost like they cook white rice and add the cilantro (chopped) right on top), not a good flavor. Come on guys, you bring a great product but the sides-need lots of consistency and work, you should think about having a chef the really knows about food science. I eat there almost everyday and I tell people about it and they come too, but we want to see better consistency in the rice cooking methods. And to have no bread that is not good, a great pulled chicken sandwich will top off the menu. I work for a large company accross from them and I ask if they will cater and the owner said that no he didnt, I mean come on even if we call in an order you cant because the phone rings and no one picks up the phone. Come on Yummy pollo its a great concept, and we Louisville people like eating out and we wish you all the luck in the world but if these little things do not be consistant honestly I can do the charcoal broil chicken in my back yard. I mean who is running this place. like I said I love the chicken but the sides and sauces are NEVER THE SAME, this is not good for a business that want to make it...
Read moreI'm not one to normally write reviews. However, I do travel all across North America and get to eat in a lot of restaurants in a lot of towns and cities, and I was EXTREMELY impressed by Yummy Pollo. Walking around noon the line was almost too the door, yet moved very quickly. There is dine in and take out options, as well as lots of seating inside, and some tables out front as well. When you choose your chicken (white/dark and quarter/half/full) and your sides you get to the cash, which I can only assume is worked by the owner of the restaurant. If anyone in the restaurant business visits here, take notes. When the owner recognized I was new to the place (as well as others in line) he went out of his way, despite a busy line, to explain that the chicken is sugar free, no oil, GMO free, cooked over real coals, no carbs, etc. He went on to describe the two sauces for dipping, one aioli and one chili based, and how they were made and what was in them. Overall he was just very passionate about his business. On top of that the chicken was exactly how he described, "crispy and fall off the bone." Suddle but delicious flavour, and the dipping sauces were a great compliment. After a half a week on the road, Yummy Pollo was just what I needed.
Side note: For anyone eating "Keto" or on the Ketogenic Diet, the chicken is described as sugar and carb free, and they have a nice...
Read moreThere is not enough good things that can be said about this place. It truly is amazing. If you like Chicken at all, you’ll love this place. Backstory, we were on a road trip visiting family up north. We were heading back to Texas and we were looking for places to eat. We found this place on google and it sounded appealing. The only thing was we had to turn and head back the other way about 20 minutes behind us. We decided to go ahead go for it. Don’t let it’s location fool you. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by very friendly employees. We got their chicken and for the sides, we got the cilantro rice and something else that I can’t remember at the top of my head. Anaways, the food was DELICIOUS. Fisel, the owner is very well spoken and extremely friendly. He personally thanked us for the visit. This was in 2016. Fast forward 2 years later and another road trip, we decided to stop again over here, and no disappointment. We enjoyed it again and had another great experience. Fast forward another year in 2019, we were heading up north to visit family, and we stopped here again. Again, very impressed. We even took some to go to share with my family we were visiting. I wish there could be one of these places in Texas. They would probably know us by name. This review was long over due. But we will definitely be back again...
