They've been open several days, but it took until 1-17-24 for us to decide the weather had warmed enough to visit this nicely refurbished facility with its new dual menu with a choice of the familiar Chinese American or the new Sichuan menu. Both are well executed with details like rice that is not overcooked, but still al dente, very nice sauces with the steamed dumplings and the egg roll and generally high attention paid to quality and presentation.
My Tang Hot Sour soup was quite spicy though it was ordered from the American Chinese menu. My wife's Shrimp with Chinese Vegetables, also American, was beautifully served with shrimp that retained that desirable pop when bitten, and a glistening glaze that made it all the more attractive. The rice had a subtle flavor that was very pleasant, while having a nice chew that results from cooking to just that magic point.
Our waiter had a certain polish and was very helpful and cautionary about menu choices appropriate to customer experience and preference, as well as being as attentive as needed for the enjoyment of the meal.
I could fill the page with superlatives, but I'll just say to take the Sichuan reputation for heat seriously, and if you mean it, you'll enjoy it. For my part I'm anxious to get back and enjoy several more of the American Chinese dishes that I found to be plenty warmly spiced, and which can be more readily adjusted to taste preference. Some Sichuan dishes are rather fixed in their high spice levels.
This restaurant will be the envy of diners who think you have to go to the east end to get quality like this. Their loss! Our gain. Be proud of it and enjoy this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOriginally ordered from Door Dash...ordered sweet and sour chicken with chicken fried rice and pd like a 2.50 upcharge. Arrived in timely manner, but was given plain fried rice and there was no sweet and sour sauce. Called and drove and picked up the sauce, wasnt going to fight about rice. When I got back home to eat, It was NOT sweet and sour sauce, called back and said I wanted to bring order back and replace with fresh food since I had to ride back and get the sweet and sour. They seemed to want to argue instead of fixing issue. After I told them I would write bad review, they put manager on phone and he said he would replace. I take BOTH orders back to be replaced, wait 15 mins, and they bring out ONE order, even though I returned TWO. At this point I am furious and just leave. I didnt ask for refund, didnt want anything for free, I just wanted what I paid for. Oh and the chicken fried rice....Never made right either. You are a new business and you were not even busy, and you have lost this customer. I will advise everyone that frequented the old china garden to NOT expect the same service. I would give ZERO stars...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you're the adventurous type or just wanted to try something new. I can not recommend this place enough. Their authentic sichuan menu isn't for everyone's budget, but it definitely makes up for it with generous portions if you decide to give it a try. If not, their American Chinese menu is also made really well, but I really recommend their sichuan menu at least once.
Most of the items on the authentic menu have organ meats or cuts of less popular proteins. However, they come out tender and savory with a lot of the cooling, savory, and spicy flavors of Sichuan cuisine. Definitely bring a friend or two for lunch here and share a plate if you're worried about wasting food. The service here is also phenomenal, albeit a little awkward, but that's to be expected when you're the only one dining in at the moment.
I would've provided a better picture from when it first got to my table, but I couldn't help myself and took a few bites. I will definitely be returning as the returning customer whenever I'm craving a hearty and spicy meal from a long,...
