Big Ray's Burgers & Dogs — Restaurant in Lower Allen

After reading several recent reviews, I decided that Big Ray's was a must try kinda place ... mistake!

Reviewers were correct in that you are promptly greeted by friendly staff upon entering this quaint little establishment, but that's the majority of the positive comments that I have got for this evenings dinner.

Ordered the Mac 'n Cheese Burger, Rodeo Fries, and a hotdog w/mustard & chili (normally order with mustard, chili, & slaw but Big Ray's does not have coleslaw). Let's start with the Mac 'n Cheese Burger which wasn't horrible, but I'm a cheeseaholic and the only cheese was from the Mac 'n Cheese itself, which was a bit lite for me. Rodeo Fries are made with skin on potatoes (which I like) drizzled with cheese, bbq sauce, & bacon. It's not that they were bad, they just needed more cheese and a BBQ sauce that wasn't quite as sweet. Then there's the hotdog, which was beyond disappointing and almost to the point of asking for a refund. Although I can deal with a restaurant not having a preferred topping, what I CAN NOT tolerate is using canned chili w/beans as a hotdog topping ... in fact, I believe it's a Cardinal Sin!

I know times are tough right now and while I try to patronize small, local restaurants with tasty cuisine when I have the chance, Big Ray's simply falls short imho. If you're going to call yourself a 'Burger & Dogs' kinda restaurant, then you need to expand your hotdog bun offerings to include grilled or "New England" style buns, broaden your toppings list, and absolutely stop using canned chili w/beans as a hotdog topping! I'd also prefer to see a Coca-Cola fountain machine as opposed to what you offer, but that's just a personal preference. But good luck...

I had attended a graduation ceremony a few months ago next door to Big Ray's. The smell of the food invited me to come back another day. This was my first time at Big Ray's today and if I could give higher than a 5 star I would.

My entire family went out to eat and got the following:

12 piece mild wings

6 piece hot wings

Large fry and small fry

Grilled chicken sandwich

Quarter pounder burger

Double quarter pounder burger

Beef hot dog

Mac n cheese

EVERY SINGLE ITEM WAS SO FRESH. The buns were extremely soft and able to keep the weight of the ingredients on them.

The wings were real wings. Not those like competitors that are tiny and full of fat. There is a lot of meat on each wing.

The burgers were simple yet packed with flavor. The bun was so soft yet completed the burger and ingredients well.

The hotdogs, all beef, were out of this world. Their HUGE!!!! Yet, light inside not to overpower you. Honestly, once done eating we wanted more lol.

I brought one hotdog home and the bun was just as soft as when we were in the restaurant.

The grilled chicken sandwich was packed with flavor and my daughter loved it so much, she bought one to bring home and she is a picky eater.

The fries were fresh!!!!

The only thing, the Mac n cheese was not a hit. However, the entire experience out weighed it.

One thing I would love is more air conditioner, as it was kinda warm inside. However, there is a patio in front of the restaurant to sit outside.

Overall, super happy and will for sure make this our regular spot. BTW, the food is way better than 5 Guys!

Bathrooms are super spacious and...

I've been to big race several times almost consider myself a regular, but today I got the worst customer service ever that I will not eat at big rays ever again. I will not recommend this restaurant to any of my friends or family. I came into big rays today. Super hungry for a cheeseburger with my godson, we both ordered burgers. I told the lady at the counter that I wanted a bourbon burger but I can't have it because it has bacon on it. So I would like the Mac and cheeseburger. I'm also legally blind, so I cannot read small print on the menu when my burger came out. I did not realize it, but it had bacon on it. I explained to the lady I do not eat pork. I stay away from as much pork products as possible. I know it's hard to do because it seems that pork is on almost anything she told me that I would have to buy a new cheeseburger, big rays burgers are not cheap. I don't mind paying the price because they're good. To be honest, they are really good. But for you to not fix my burger and make me pay for another one is absolutely ridiculous. I explained to them my disability. I'm also in a wheelchair. I explained I cannot see the menu. I did not know there was bacon on it. And she still told me, I had to buy another one. I'm still angry about their lack of customer service again. I will spread the word about their poor customer service and I will not recommend anyone.
