I love love LOVE shopping at ALDI, so when the Carlisle store closed for a few weeks for renovations I headed to the next closest one in Camp Hill for my weekly grocery trip. What a disappointment! The store was understocked and disorganized and the customer service was HORRIBLE! The Carlisle store had given us $5 coupons to use each week they were closed and they were dated. Well mine wouldn't scan and the cashier claimed she couldn't manually override it. She made no effort to get someone who could either, and instead argued that it was expired (because it said "good through [date I was there]). I finally had to raise my voice and ask her to PLEASE GET A MANAGER. Cue eyeroll and heavy sigh from the cashier. Luckily the manager working that day was one of the Carlisle managers and knew me. I only had a few items so I went to self checkout, tried scanning an item that was not produce and the register asked if it was produce so I said no and kept scanning. Cue an inquisition from the checkout behind me and a manager running over asking what seemed to be the issue . After 5 minutes of waiting around I was told the item was not stickered appropriately and I could not purchase the item, no apology, no offer for substitution or any other way for me to purchase item, so ridiculous. Not sure what the point of the new self checkouts are if you need two people to monitor them and not provide any...
Read moreI typically shop at the Aldi in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. This review is for the Aldi in Camp Hill. The Camp Hill store is narrow, and today [perhaps because Avengers Endgame was playing nearby] it was jammed with shoppers; the lot was so full that cars were parked on the grass near the main road; inside, the Aldi was saturated with people, and some stock had started to run thin on the shelves. Still, it really wasn't hard getting in and out ... the checkout was fast, and my check-out person was extra courteous, helping stack my groceries into a box. On average, I find that Aldi's saves $38-$40 off a grocery basket that would cost $100...
