Giuseppe's Brothers Pizza — Restaurant in Lower Allen

For many years this restaurant has been on our short list of take-out places in the area, usually for subs. The folks are friendly, and while the food is a little inconsistent, it's generally pretty good.Never a truly bad experience--until Friday. As I compose this review, I'm reeling from what without a doubt is a bad case of food poisoning caused by their food. The evidence? Five of us, from two different households, ordered different items and all came down with the same highly unpleasant symptoms about 36 hours later. This is very sad. Maybe I could go back there regularly for another decade or so and the same thing would never happen again. But food poisoning is definitely a case where one bad apple does spoil the whole bunch. For one thing, the rather vivid image of the type of sickness caused is enough to overwhelm the images of all previous visits. For another--and here's the real problem--food poisoning once is sufficient evidence of unsanitary food handling that for sure will cause this problem to keep happening until they get the place cleaned up and adopt better practices. This used to be our favorite pizza spot, but the past few years have not been as great as before. For starters the toppings(including cheese) have reduced tremendously. The subs are a lot of bread and light on the ingredients, whether it be cheese steaks or cold subs. A few days ago our order was mixed up with another customer, or maybe made incorrectly? We called and ordered another(3 ingredient item), only to get it home and it be wrong AGAIN. So frustrating. It's hard to post this, but maybe the owner will see it and know his customers are noticing the cutbacks, higher prices, and staff not following directions. We all understand the economy is straining, but if you can't go to a local pizza shop and get quality (even with higher than ever seen before prices), what is left? Went in order food to go. I ordered a cheeseburger sub and said light mayo. On the menu it says LTO & mayo. Get home it is burgers on a roll with mayo. Ok no problem call them up asked if I could bring back to fix. Sure! Get there the owner (d*%#+e) says what’s wrong? I said I am missing LTO. He said you have to tell us what you want. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I did not say NO LTO and your menu says LTOM. Instead of them just saying sorry we will fix it up. But I have had this issue before and he has to shift blame. I was not even mad walking in but his attitude changed that.

His brother the old owner was so so nice and had great customer service skills. The pizza was also a lot better then.
